  1. My FIL wanted to bring lunch - chinese or fast food- so since it was nothing
i had any intention of eating I suggested going to Wendy's on our way out.
The kids like the nuggets&fries and it's a very, very occasional thing that
I get them - usually it's a drive thru and they eat them in the car. Well -
i haven't actually been inside a fast food joint in ages!! FIL was like "you
can't eat ANYTHING" he was horrified - of course i could've eaten
something - they even have salads. But really, I don't like the stuff and
for $5+ the salads looked pathetic and I was wary of the dressings. i had
eaten 2 hardboiled eggs before leaving the house anyway.

Well- as I sat there I just became sick to my stomach! I think it was the
smells, I dunno - Maybe it was "situational carb overload" -I dunno. I
thought it was the eggs I ate but when we got out of there into the fresh
    air I felt better.

  2. Not me, I love the smell of those places. :-)

  3. You can make a nice cheap low carb meal at Wendy's if you have to by buying
the 99 cent bacon cheeseburger and a 99 cent Caesar salad. I've done that
many a time when stranded somewhere where fast food was the only option.

All the Wendy's near me have been great about wrapping my burger in lettuce and
putting it in a salad container. They have been doing this for over two years
now, way before other fast food places started advertising low-carb burgers. I
usually order a burger off the dollar menu, two if I'm REALLY hungry. Their
grilled chicken sandwich without the sauce and bun is good, too.

yeah they do it and BK does it. I got 1 in hungry desperation in the summer
and almost puked. I could barely choke it down! It was soo salty and slimey
and barely meat-like :oP Never again. (I guess the bun & ketchup & fries was
enough to hide the gross-ness) I try to never get caught hungry out - my
fave is Sbarros hot bar in a pinch. While th ekids split a huge slice of
pizza, i can have salad & maybe some chicken or sausage or fish. When I
worked in NYC it was easiest because there is a hot bar on every block!!

I would just prefer not to eat fast food. If I ever do again it would
probably be Taco Bell or Subway. And even then- if I was going to eat that
kind of food I'd rather have good Mexican at a restaurant or make it....or
make an awesome prosciutto & aged provolone hero on crusty italian bread
with marinated mushrooms and roasted red peppers ...mmmm, droool. that's the
    stuff i miss!

  6. I haven't eaten a fast food burger in years, do like Wendy's chicken
sandwiches. There are burgers that are so much better than any of the fast
food places. Before I retired there was a sports bar across the street from
work that served wonderful big burgers, they served them plain and put the
condiments on the table which included sweet onions sliced into big
delicious slabs, bread and butter pickles and hot peppers. Actually, to me,
a burger is just a good excuse for a nice slice of onion. Now I buy the
frozen ground sirloin patties from Costco. They are so handy, you can nuke
one in about 3 minutes total. Some chopped onion and a bit of
    Worcestershire, mmmmmmm.

i get them too, I prefer fresh burger from the meat dept but the costco ones
are sooo convenient. I can't imagine nuking them though - i George Foreman
them and it takes 4 min, but the grill needs 5 min to warm up.

I lovvveee my George Foreman grill!!

Wendys is my quick bunless burger place. The manager passed me at
Walmart one day and mumbled "Patty cheese Patty cheese"(as she walked
by me) cuz thats how I like mine! I'm known as the "patty cheese
girl". I wouldnt dare order anything with carbs LOL I would be chided
for sure!!!! That is a small town for ya LOL!!! One day I was running
errands and paying bills,I go to the bank drive thru, look inside one
day and see the Allstate insurance man, I ask the teller to please
give Craig my insurance payment( I was headed to his office shortly).
He mouthed "Thank you" and it was one less stop for me LOL

  9. I don't have room in my kitchen to keep a GF grill, bought one and decided
it wasn't worth the effort of dragging it out from my storage room so I gave
it to my grandson. Actually the burger nuke pretty well. You just want to
watch not to overdo them. If I'm cooking for myself and SO I do them in the
    cast iron skillet.

  10. You may be better off without the GF grill. The point of the grill is to
drain off the fat. The fat is the best part.
