  1. DH sliced them medium thick and made medallions out of them, then cut
them in half and marinated them in Hidden Valley Ranch dressing and
pepper. Like I said I hate cucumbers, but these were incredibly good!!

I love cucumbers. My brother insists that they smell like snakes. No
way will he put me off them. English cucumbers are best, but when I
was in Thailand last year I discovered some tiny cukes that looked
like picklers - but they were a totally different taste. To DIE for!

I need to know why your brother knows what snakes smell like.

Yeah, they do - or snakes smell like cucumbers. It's not really the
same, it's more that one makes you think of the other. It's just that
one tastes like chicken and is harder to peel. 😉

That sounds kind of like the Indian dish 'raita', except that they sometimes
puree teh some of cucumbers and mix them into the dip (which is made of
yogurt and black pepper etc and has other veg pieces in it). Very good in
    hot weather.

Yeah. Me too. When my daughter was little she wouldn't eat fish
because she said it 'looks like snakes.' Major snake phobia runnin'
    through my family...LOL

  9. Im not much of a fan of cucumbers either. I find them rather boring
but i can eat them. The smell however makes me gag unless i eat some
    myself. Weird.

Cucumbers are nice as pickles too. In Denmark we often make it
ourselves and call it cucumber salad. It does contain sugar but i
would guess that a substitute would work well. Here is the recipe:

    1 cucumber
    2 tbl salt
    ½ dl vinegar
Sugar substitute for what would be about 2 tbl ordindary sugar
    2 tbl water
    Fresh black for white pepper.

Cut the cucumber in really really thing slices. The thinner the better
and the shorter it takes for the cucumbers to get ready.
Put the slices in a bowl, put in salt and let it sit there for about
    20 minutes.
Make the marinade with vinegar, water, pepper and the sugarsubstitute.
Rinse the salt of the cucumberslices and put them in the marinade. Let
it sit in the fridge for at least 20 minutes before serving.

If you havent made the cucumber slices ultra thing a longer time in
    the fridge is needed.
