  1. Usama BinLadens video (released 29/10/2004) addressing the world about the root causes of Al Qaedas differences with the USA, made very interesting viewing this evening.

Obviously, the Al Qaeda leader is alive and well.
His comments about the Sept 11th 2001, were very interesting.
BinLaden made several charges against George Bush :

    1. Binladen maintains that Bush could have protected the USA in the run
    up to the attacks.
    2. Binladen maintains that Bush was more interested in reading stories to a kid
while being told of the attacks.
    3. BinLaden maintains that he got the idea for attacking the Twin Towers
after seeing the Israeli's, with military support from the US navy, attack
    buildings in Lebannon in 1982.
    4. BinLaden maintains that the Bush goverment is the same as the Middle
Eastern goverments who surpress the Arab people.

Binladen maintains that the outcome of the Presidential race (Nov 2nd) isn't
any guarantee that policy might change - even if Kerry is elected.
BinLaden maintains that the freedom of the USA resides with the US people, and not Kerry and/or Bush.

The fact that BinLaden is still free - three years after the Sept 11th attacks -
does any of this persuade you to support or remove support from either
    Presidential candidate ?

  2. Here is some of the content of BinLdens speech (this is the only version I could find).

O American people, I am speaking to tell you about the ideal way to avoid another Manhattan, about war and its causes and results.

"Security is an important foundation of human life and free people do not squander their security, contrary to Bush's claims that we hate freedom. Let him tell us why we did not attack Sweden for example.

"It is known that those who hate freedom do not possess proud souls like those of the 19, may God rest their souls. We fought you because we are free and because we want freedom for our nation. When you squander our security we squander yours.

"I am surprised by you. Despite entering the fourth year after Sept. 11, Bush is still deceiving you and hiding the truth from you and therefore the reasons are still there to repeat what happened.

"God knows it did not cross our minds to attack the towers but after the situation became unbearable and we witnessed the injustice and tyranny of the American-Israeli alliance against our people in Palestine and Lebanon, I thought about it. And the events that affected me directly were that of 1982 and the events that followed -- when America allowed the Israelis to invade Lebanon, helped by the US Sixth Fleet.

"In those difficult moments many emotions came over me which are hard to describe, but which produced an overwhelming feeling to reject injustice and a strong determination to punish the unjust.

"As I watched the destroyed towers in Lebanon, it occurred to me punish the unjust the same way (and) to destroy towers in America so it could taste some of what we are tasting and to stop killing our children and women.

"We had no difficulty in dealing with Bush and his administration because they resemble the regimes in our countries, half of which are ruled by the military and the other half by the sons of kings ... They have a lot of pride, arrogance, greed and thievery.

"He (Bush) adopted despotism and the crushing of freedoms from Arab rulers and called it the Patriot Act under the guise of combating terrorism.....

"We had agreed with the (the Sept. 11) overall commander Mohammed Atta, may God rest his soul, to carry out all operations in 20 minutes before Bush and his administration take notice.

"It never occurred to us that the commander in chief of the American forces (Bush) would leave 50,000 citizens in the two towers to face those horrors alone at a time when they most needed him because he thought listening to a child discussing her goat and its ramming was more important than the planes and their ramming of the skyscrapers. This had given us three times the time needed to carry out the operations, thanks be to God...

"Your security is not in the hands of (Democratic presidential candidate John) Kerry or Bush or al Qaeda. Your security is in your own hands and each state which does not harm our security will remain safe."

  3. "The fact that BinLaden is still free - three years after the Sept 11th attacks -
does any of this persuade you to support or remove support from either
    Presidential candidate ?"

Not one freakin' bit! But, Mr. Limerickman, you must really WORSHIP Usama.
    You quote him so well!

  4. The drunk would like to smoke the hash pipe with Usama and watch the US burn.

So how do your surmise that I worship BinLaden ?
I don't support BinLaden, in fact.

I saw his video tonight and I wondered what reaction - if any - would there be with regard to the citizens of the USA and their voting pattern on Nov 2nd.
Would the sight of BinLaden make people think that Bush took his eye of the ball by invading Iraq, or would the sight of Binladen embolden people to vote for Bush on the basis that BinLaden is still out there.

The translation that I supplied in post 2 - I received from my media colleague.
(I posted it to augment the detail in post 1 - just in case people wanted to see BinLadens words, rather than mine).

We know your view Ruedy - no need to reply to my direct response to you
    here.

  7. Keep your nose in the air, Mr. Limerickman. It belongs there.

    Now, now Mr Ruedy.

I'm trying to give you the benefit of the doubt here.

    Limerickass loves to waste bandwidth.

If Bush refuses to negotiate with terrorists, I can't see him settling down for a pipe with Usama. I guess he might be tempted to have a few lines with him though.

  11. Learning this speech is indeed important if we want to learn more about Bin Laden. It has absolutely nothing with the polls. Such terrorists are almost impossible to find, and all the US's tanks and airplanes are useless here. Besides, I suspect that if you ever catch him alive, he will get away with the best lawyer money can buy.
I am not a Bush supporter, yet I say that if you vote against Bush just because Bin Laden is still out there - you will be rewarding Bin Laden.

  12. The drunk is limerpuke.

  13. I get the feeling limerpuke wacked off every time the IRA killed an innocent Brit or soldier - but he never had the guts to DO anything himself.

I'm not sure the clown has the time - he is too busy worrying about the political scene in the USA. He sure is a verbose mofo.

    Good point.

You get the feeling .................blah, blah, blah

Innocence and guilt : British soldier and IRA.
Won't open up that can of worms.
Very murky and a lot of it would be over your head, anyhow.

Let's stick to the subject of this thread.
Did Usama's video influence you, Bert ?

So back to the question : has BinLadens appearance on video altered your
decision about who to vote for ?

To go back to your original question, Limerickman, Osama's video won't change my vote. (It is an interesting question.) And my impression of us Americans is we don't like to be pushed around and especially don't like others meddling in our business. When it comes down to brass tacks, Americans will stick together.

Heated discusion is fun, but, name calling drops it to a silly level.

  19. Here's my view.

BinLaden is alive and the video was made very recently.

The pretext of the war on terror was to get BinLaden and Co - three years ago.

A war was launched in Afghanistan but it failed to capture/kill him.
The USA has been up and down every cave on the Pakistan/Afghan border and failed to find him.

The USA put a $25m bounty on his head and it failed to persuade people to hand him over.

The USA invaded Iraq on the basis that Hussein and BinLaden were in cahoots
(which has been proven to be a lie).

1,081 US troops have died in Iraq.

The federal US budget deficit - fuelled by the war to find WMD that was never there, to try to prove a link between Iraq and BinLaden that was never there, to try to capture and kill BinLaden - is spiralling out of control and will require higher taxes for the US to pay back that deficit.

    100,000 Iraqi's have died.

US relations with most other democratic countries - as regards foreign policy - is dead in the water.

And four days before the US Presidential election, the man in who's name the whole war on terror was launched three years ago - turns up on our TV screens to inform us of his view about the Presidential debate and the USA's
role in making itself safe !

Bush's policy has been an utter failure for the past three years.

    Fair point.
Thank you for your candid answer.

Don't like name calling either, but in some cases one is forced to reply at the level of the replier.
