  1. Just a bunch of BS. Sugar, in itself, is not harmful. Perhaps some
"sugary foods" are bad for you when eaten in excess, but in itself sugar is
a useful ingredient in many foods, many of which are not junk foods. It's a
good counter-balance to alot of other flavors, and it can be used in all
    sorts of "non-desert" foods.

And BTW, now days the biggest source of micronutrient-poor (ie, "junk"😉
starches is NOT sugar, it's corn syrup, at least in the American diet.
Most of a can of Coke is water and high fructose corn syrup.

  2. A form of sugar. Nobody said "Cane sugar"

Sure they did... the original article was attacking the sugar industry,
ie, cane sugar. Cane sugar is not responsable for most of the "sugar" in
the diet in America. Cane-syrup (molasses), sugars, and corn-syrup are not
necessarily unhealthy in themselves, and they can be used as part of a
    healthy diet.

  4. I am glad you can apply your own interpretation to it. Why don't you dream
    it doesn't exist?

Don't be silly. There would be lobbyists from corporations that
sell corn sweeter as well as the other beet and cane derived sugars.

If sparingly used but people chug liter bottles of Pepsi such
that they either load up on corn derived sweeters or
some artifical sweeter. If you accept that up to10% your
calories can be from refined sugars without gross impairment of
nutrition then by that standard a huge number of the population
are in the red zone. The phrase "can be used as a part of
healthy diet" will true is nonetheless a deception when not
closely accompanied with a very specific
suggestion to limit refined sugar below 5 or 10 percent
of total calorie intake. Some express the opinion that
    10% is too high.

Hey Bill... life must be slow since you left the White House?

Well, then attack the syrupy food industry- soda pop, etc. Don't attack
the cane frmers. Like I said, most sugar molecules in the diet comes from
    corn.
