New thinking indeed! Just not yours. A little to simplistic to think that Israel is the source of all the problems. I guess that would resolve the Kashmir problem too. If Bin Laden's statements are true then your arguments have been erroneous. You have stated other past US injustices in the middle east was the cause of Bin Laden. Is that now not true? Is it just Israel or is it a myriad of other grievances?

It's not possible. Israel has its history tied up in that particular land. Even under the Romans Jerusalem was incredibly unstable and political.
Myself I think that the solution to the war on terror would be to close the most obvious gaps as opposed to getting bogged down in Iraq. They could have invested billlions of dollars on a tighter immigration system to prevent a repetition of terrorists being able to operate in Europe, the U.S. and the U.K. I mean, these people were just wandering all over the U.S. or even setting up terror camps over there. Only Australia seems to have followed the immigration line so far.
Another point is that Bush was right to highlight the fact something has to be done with the Middle East but it's his methods that are wrong. Sure, Middle Eastern countries should be prosperous and stable, given the oil wealth in the area but bombing them into democracy isn't the solution. It's a tough cookie to crack, though. The Middle East is just so backward and repressed.
All in all my sympathies are with Israel but they could help themselves (and the U.S.) a lot more if they treated the Palestinians with a little more tact and diplomacy.

Here's the solution.

Binladen and Co are here to stay.
Three years after hunting him in every knook and cranny, he can appear/disappear at will.
Bounties/rewards mean nothing : his people are loyal and he's well protected.
Even if the USA does manage to get him - he has already lit the fuse and
radicalised major parts of Islam.
Logistically, logic says that he has a huge groundswell of support in the Islamic world.

So what is the core issue to all of this dispute between BinLaden and the
USA ?
It's Israel.

The USA needs to look at the War on Terrorism, in a pragmatic way.
Al Qaeda isn't going to go away - in all likelihood.
It seems that they can operate with impunity - due to massive support throughout the Islamic world.

How many Israeli/Jews are there in Israel ?
10 million ? 20 million ?
How many Muslims are there ?
1 billion ?

The numbers game suggest that the USA ought to be trying to engage BinLaden & Co, rather than antagonising him over 20 million people in a country, the size a small US State surrounded by unhappy Arab states.

The USA ought to widedraw support for Israel - make it a phased withdrawal.

To placate Israel - adopt the Balfour Declaration and look at transplanting those 20 million Israeli/Jews to Argentina, for example.
Ok, there will be hue and cry - there'll be chants of racism and bigotry.
