RR: The Witchng Hour w/Pics

    There are two areas in NJ that one could say are haunted. In the north,
    you have Jockey Hollow where the ghosts of the Revolutionary war
    (including the Redcoats for those across the pond) walk the rocky
    ground. The other,and more closer to me is the Pine Barrons, where the
    Jersey Devil stalks it's prey. What better night for JAR's annual
    Halloween ride then All Hallows Eve. Though it rained the day before,
    it remain cloudy and things were still moist and unusually warm (68F).
    I spent quite a bit of time trying to figure out what I could where as a
    costume without it getting caught on the briars that line the Lebanon
    State Forest trail. At first I actually purchased an orange prisoner
    uniform. Later, I decided that the outfit was just too big and not
    unique. So I made my own Evil Knievil costome.

    We met at the train station and then decided on the trail (there was
    some discussion as to the ground conditions in Delaware) we would use.
    So the caravan of cars and bikes headed to the Pine Barrons and we
    assembled at the little diner across the street from the trail.

    Yes, he actually rode with the pumpkin on his head.

    As the withing our approached the trail mysteriously became foggy and
    the moon began to show through the clouds. It was the perfect scenery
    for a halloween ride. I don't think Hollywood good have produced a
    better set.

    About six miles in we reach the Batona Trail.

    We stopped for a rest and a park ranger paid us a visit. This trail is
    a pedestrian only trail and he informed us of that. However, after
    seeing what a bunch of wackos in costumes we looked like, decided that
    there wouldn't be any pedestrians on the train at Midnight and let us
    continue having fun. Thank you Mr. Ranger!

    We did enounter the devil that night. In fact he knocked over one of
    the bikes when we weren't looking and then scuttled away.

    My eyes! My Eyes! I think that costume is scarier than you may have
    intended.
    Did you ever see that Elvis camel toe photo going around? I just had a
    flashback to that...
