I've been trying out Purple Extreme chain lube, and have noticed
something odd. When I backpedal (say, to position my foot/pedal at a
stoplight), I find that there's a LOT of "friction." By friction, I
mean that the chain "sags" as if the freehub were binding. Under normal
load (i.e., pedaling) the chain behaves normally.
Anyone else experienced this?
The chain is a narrow/9-speed KMC on a LWB recumbent, and the chain was
thoroughly cleaned before applying the Purple Extreme. Most of the
riding with the PE-lubed chain has been in temps in the low- to
mid-30's, with the highest temp in the low 40's. I was using Boeshield
T-9, and never experienced the aforementioned chain "drag" before.
