The updates didn't seem to last long. Are you still out there?

I'm not that person, but I'll be happy to stand in his place...

I've been low-caring for almost eight months. I've gone from 217 pounds to
180, and still have 15 more pounds that I want to lose.

I do supplement my diet with vitamins and fiber supplements now, but I'm
healthy, happy, and enjoying more energy that I have had in most of my life,
and I'm 54 years old. People 20 years younger than me have a hard time
    keeping up with me, now.

I know several people locally who have gone low carb, and although they did
lose weight, often more than me, it was harder for them. I did not suffer
the caffeine or sugar withdrawals they did, so it was fairly easy for me.
But it works for me, and it works for them, and it will work for most
people. Because every human body is different, there is no gurarantee of
anything. But it sure is worth a try.

As a side note, I might go a few weeks or a month and nothing changes, then
I might lose five pounds almost overnight. That's just my body, and like I
said, everyone is different. But overall I continue on this because in the
long run, it works for me.

Just as a side note, I was talking tonight with a lady who went from 270 to
133 after 14 months of low-carbing. Her daughter had some friends over, and
one of them got her pants wet. Susan (my friend) loaned a pair of her jeans
to the girl, who was a high-school cheerleader. She couldn't get into the
    jeans.

Gave Susan a real power trip, LOL!

    Hi Jim -

Last month there was a person who was posting every day with updates, and
asking for advice on eating NO CARBS AT ALL. You can google the name
"Proud2LoveCats" if you would like to read the threads. Several folks
wanted to be sure this poster was not going around telling his/her neighbors
and friends that he was eating LC...because, obviously, no-carbs is quite
different from LC. This poster planned on eating no vegetables at all.

I've been LC (Atkins) for 6 months, with 34 pounds lost, so I'm familiar
with LC, too. Congrats on your success, but I think you might have
misunderstood my original post. I doubt you would want to "stand in" for
    this person!

Thanks for the reply, Staci. You're rigjht, I want nothing associated
between a person like that and me.

"No carb" is easy, and may work, but it could be dangerous.

I confess that real-life things have kept me away from this group too often,
but that's just a fact of life.

I congratulate you on your success, and pray that your new WAE becomes a
lifestyle for you! Most of us here are here for support, not argument. I
believe you will be an asset to the group!

I'm guessing most everybody on this ng is low-carb so you're preaching
to the choir. The poster in question was going NO-carb. As in zero.
    Nada. Not a bit.

  11. Yeah, but that person was NO carb, not LOW carb. Most of us thought that
was pretty limiting and not particularly helpful in any meaningful way.

ARe you saying you eat NO carbs? If not, you can't stand for the "no-carb"

Not at all, Roger. I read it hastily. My error. I believe that
carbohydrates are beneficiary, if not essential, for health. I do believe
that the government reccomendations, or the "food pyramid" is vastly
excessive, but I would never eliminate carbs from my diet. My local
low-carb friends and I spend more time discussing veggie recipes than
    anything else, LOL!
