Hi everyone,
I have lady friend of mine living in Melbourne looking for a good bike shop
for advise on bikes for women, as she is buying her first bike.
Any advise would be welcome

The girls who run what was known as "Bicycle Hospital" in West
Melbournne (now called Pushi), and also run the Pushi shop in King St
seem to be very female friendly. I think I'll leave it at that....

I'd recommend BikeNow in South Melbourne, on the corner of Kingsway and Park
Street. Ask for Warren. It's my wife's favourite LBS, mainly because they're
pretty friendly there and it's large enough to browse without feeling
self-conscious. Good range of clothing too.

Tell her to sign up with CogsGirls, which is an informal ladies cycling
group which has been running for about a year now. Regular rides on Saturday
mornings, the odd social event and occasional training from the
aforementioned Warren.
