  1. Speaking of lapped runners, wasn't there an old rule (e.g, of the AAU) which
held that lapped runners in distance races had to drop out of the race?
The theory was, apparently, that such runners obviously have no chance to
win the race, or even of placing sufficiently high to make a difference in
the scoring; therefore their presence benefits no one, and moreover hinders
those who are still legitimately "in" the race.

Every runner I've spoken to seems to vaguely recall such a rule, but how could
one settle the issue definitively? A copy of an old AAU rulebook would do the
trick, but people don't tend to keep old rulebooks lying around. When the new
book arrives, the old one gets thrown away. Are there sports libraries
somewhere that archive this sort of thing for the good of posterity?
(A google search of "lapped runner rule" turns up nothing of interest.)

There is a larger issue here that bears examination. What with cd burners, dvd
burners, and hundred gigabyte hard drives commonplace (and terabyte drives
just around the corner,) how can we justify throwing _any_ information
away? Who knows? Your cache of spam mail from November 16, 2004 may be
just the key that unlocks some deep truth for a future historian!

I've read that ours may be the last "mortal" generation, that our children
or grandchildren may come of age in an era of medical advances so profound
that life can be extended indefinitely. Ultimately, then, our successors will
have to face the downside of eternity: the fact that it takes up a lot of
time. I predict that history will someday become a growth subject. Our jaded
descendants, having used up all novelty in their own lives, will turn to
the recorded echos of ours for inspiration. We owe it to them to ensure the
    experience is worthwhile.

So, fellow bulgers: man the camcorders, digital cameras, dvd and
ipod voice recorders. Blog away to your heart's content. Archive old email,
web caches, newsgroup postings ... Just be sure to leave over a little
time to do something worth remembering.

Happy Thanksgiving to fellow Americans, and peace to runners everywhere.

  2. To save effort For example, 10 = 101; As another example, 10-2 = 1/100;
in this case the exponent is negative,

Converting from "Normal" to Scientific Notation

    adds (+)=Example: (6.7 x 109) + (4.2 x 109) = (6.7 + 4.2) x 109=
    10.9 x 109 = 1.09 x 1010.

    minus (-)=Example: (4 x 108) - (3 x 106) = (4 x 108) - (0.03 x 108) =
    (4 - 0.03) x 108 = 3.97 x 108.

    (×) times =Example: (6 x 102) x (4 x 10-5) = (6 x 4) x (102 x
    10-5) = 24 x 102-5 = 24 x 10-3 = 2.4 x 10-2.

    Significant Figures

Example: "your doctor" may say that you weigh 185 pounds, when in fact
at that instant you might weigh 185.16479 pounds. -16479 after blood
    taken.
    or 185 pound.........
Now: Say the rr group: may say that the track field has a
    circumference of5.23 cm distance.
Example: Find the circumference of a lap track field of a circle
measured to have a radius of 5.23 cm on a(2 D) surface 2 d= pencil and
paper figure of a tack field..
    C = (2 x p x R). Since the value of p stored in your calculator is
probably 3.141592654, the numerical solution will be
    (2 x 3.141592654 x 5.23 cm) = 32.86105916 = 3.286105916 x 101 cm. result
    as 32.9 cm or 3.29 x 101 cm.

So...........power of 10 to this lap runner..

Happy Thanksgiving to fellow Americans, and peace to runners everywhere.

The reason is because the number "2" is exact - it expresses the fact
that a diameter is exactly twice the radius of a circle - no uncertainty
about it at all. Without any exaggeration, we could have represented the
number as 2.0000000000000000000, but merely used the shorthand "2" for
simplicity - so we really didn't violate the rule of using the least
    accurately-known number.

I think they mean that nascar race track field and a runners race field
are not the same as one is a machine of car parts and another is a
machine of organic matter....... Not the same.........

lap runners and track field. not the same.

from one another by such obvious and easily measured characteristics as
DNA, fingerprints and consciences.. Each presents something unique to
earthly society and the whole of creation by virtue of the "Unified

Individual humans are regarded as having inherent, innate, ingrained,

  4. Basic Geometry
    Triangles, Circles, and More ..

    Triangles
Triangles, as the prefix tri suggests, are closed geometrical figures
that have three straight sides. Every triangle will, as a result, have
    three angles as well.

One important thing to remember about triangles is that the sum of the
three angles in a triangle is alway equal to 180 degrees (for definition
of degree see subsection below on angles)
    Types of Triangles
Special relationships between the three sides and the three angles allow
us to define types of triangles

    A. The Right Triangle: Perhaps the most basic and important type of
triangle that you will encounter in Astronomy (and in Physics) is the
right triangle. The right triangle is a triangle that has one 90o angle.
Since the sum of the angles in a triangle must be 180o, this implies
that the other two angles in a right triangle must add up to 90o. Many
special trigonometric relationships between the sides and the angles
emerge as a result of this special 90o angle. One of these relations is
the so called Pythagorean Theorem. For the right triangle shown in
    figure 2, the relation is: a2 + b2 = c2
See the Trigonometry section for more - and very IMPORTANT -

    B. Equilateral Triangle: This is a type of triangle in which all 3
sides, and as a result all three angles are equal. Since the sum of the
angles in a triangle must be 180o, then this means that for an
equilateral triangle each angle is 60o!

    C. Isoceles Triangle: In this special type of triangle, two sides are
equal to each other. One can prove - as you probably did long time ago
in your geometry class - that the the angles opposite to these two equal
sides are also equal to each other. Thus, let us say that we have a
triangle in which two sides are 5.0 cm in length and the other side is -
let's say - 2 cm This means that the two angles indicated.

You will learn how to calculate these angles in the trigonometry
    section.
    D. Worst Case! Of course, a triangle could just have all 3 sides
different in length - as in the first diagram above - in which case
there is nothing nice about it! In such cases, one has to find ways of
breaking up parts of the triangle or dropping prependiculars to various
sides in order to determine anything about the triangle. There is also a
very useful tool that is applicable to all traingles in general; it is
stated in terms of an equation that is called the the law of cosines.

    Angles
Angles are basic to our observations of the world. We think about angles
all the time, in our perception of reality, even though we my not be
aware of it at any given instant (an in fact most of us think about
angles without ever being aware of it!). Since angles are measurable
quantities we have to have a way of specifying how to measure angles and
what numbers and units to give them.
One basic way of measuring angles is to start somewhere on the plane
geometrical surface - a good, flat landscape - and say that if we go
around one revolution, completeing a circle, we have covered 360
degrees. Thus, the unit of measurment of angles will then be degrees and
360 degrees = one revolution. The degree symbol is usually the
    superscript o.
A portion of a revolution will of course be smaller than 360 degrees.
For instance, if we go round 1/4th of a circle, as shown in bottom part
of the figure below., then we cover only 1/4th of 360 degrees, which is
    equal to 90o.

    Area
Since the triangle is a bounded figure one can define an area that it
encloses. This might seem complicated to do, if you're just staring at a
random picture of a triangle. But, one can look at a very simple
triangle first and see how we can find out its area. This will not be
shown in detail here; if you're interested in the details see the
derivation of area of traingle in the supplementary sections. The result
is a simple relationship that actually generalizes to all triangles if
one correctly identifies the base and the height. The way this is done
is as follows: one simply picks a side of the triangle and calls it the
'base' and then from the edge opposite to that side one drops a
prependicular line to the side that is picked as 'base' ... this
prependicular line is the height. The following figure may help you
imagine how this is done. The area of the triangle is then one-half the
    base times the height:

Notice that the base and the height both have units of length and so the
area A will have units of length2, as expected.
    Circles
The circle is a closed geometric figure as shown in the following
    figure:

It is defined such that all the points on the circle are at a constant
distance from a center. This distance is called the radius of the
circle, as indicated in the diagram above.

    Circumference
The quanitity we call the "circumference" of a geometircal figure is
basically the distance one would travel in going around a closed shaped
figure once. One can define a circumference for any closed geometric
figure. The circumference of a circle is a rather useful quantity, and
it depends very simply on the radius of the circle:
    C = 2 × p × r
    where: C = Circumference, r = radius, and p = 3.1415 ....
You can think of this quantity p as a constant that allows you to define
the circumference of a circle. If you're intrested in finding out more
about p see the supplementary sections. The value of p also allows us to
define other ways of measuing angles (in units called radians.)
    Area
Again, as for any closed geometric shape, we can also define an area
that is enclosed by a circle. This is called the area of the circle and
it also depends on the radius of the circle. It is given by:
    A = p × r2
Notice that the value of p comes in again into this formula (as it does
for any geometrical measurment of a circle). Also important is to
compare this with the circumference of a circle. While the circumferene
of a circle depends on r its area depends on r2.
This observation is significant in terms of units. The circumference
will always have the units of distance, while the area will always of
    units of distance2.

The perimeter of the square is simple ... only the sides added together.
    Thus: perimeter = L + L + L + L = 4L
The area of the square is also simple ... it's the length of the side
squared (or the side multiplied by itself).
    Area = L × L = L2

    Rectangles:
Rectangles are somewhat the same idea as squares except that the sides
need not be equal. Since it is a closed geometric figure with opposite
sides paralles and adjacent sides perpendicular then it has a longer
side, usually called its lengh =L , and a shorter side, often called its
    width= W.

    Perimeter = sum of sides = L + W + L + W = 2L + 2W
    Area = length x width = L × W

i think this is all you need to figure out your track field probe....and

  5. Very amazing facts about harmonic frequencies..

It is said that our planet beats from 7.82-8 cycles per second
    (7.82-8 hz,
8 hz is the alpha brain wave rhythm in which our parallel processors,
or brain hemispheres, are synchronized to spin together equally.

The neo-cortex of the brain, 90% unassigned becomes awakened
in this synchronization, and one then operates in all brain cell
dendrites with the maximum information flow possible on that scale. "
Ordinary" some well 8 hz to awareness brain waves ranges from 14-40 hz.
Here one is operating only in some brain cell dendrites, and
predominantly with the left brain as the centre of activity,
where information flow is billions of times slighter

In other words at 7.82 world hz one is an operating supercomputer, or
    congressing towards Superconsciousness.

A musical revolution or a machine that would induce 7.82-8 hz in its
beholders may propel mankind into an internal Revolution, And it is
    here.
It is often cited that humanity only uses 10% of the brain.

(for someone like Einstein, who profusely meditated his equations in
ecstasies), and Einstein relays in his General Relativity Theory, that
were the other 90% to become assigned, e = mc4 would result.

Einstein states that the body would transform into pure
energy: the resurrection/ascension of the Gnostic traditions of the
west, the Rainbow Body and Diamond Body as it is known to the Tibetan
Buddhists and Taoists of the far east.

8 hz then is possible the key to such a potential full Sovereign brain
    activation.
At the least it is a Golden Midway Bridge towards that internal
    Revolution.

Dr. Andrija Puharich demonstrated in the late 1970s
(Proto-Communication II), that 8 hz could not be blocked by any
electromagnetic shielding metal or even a triple vacuum. Which implies
that it rotates through the Virtual (Everywhere and Everywhen) and
quantum non-local hyperspace, constantly. Ortho-rotating through what
the Hermetic Gnostic and Shaman Psychonauts may have attempted to
grapple with under the term, loosely appropriated as "Spirit", and the
    Taoistic Wu Chi.

The major Toltec complex of Teotihuacan in Mexico, has its
great Pyramid of the Sun with an overall base of 864 STU (Standard
    Teotihuacan Units)
    which is twice 432.
STU was the Toltecs measure unit for this site, as their "myths" relay
it was taught them by the Shaman Wizard gods from the stars. Each side
of this Sun Pyramid is 216 STU, precisely half of 432, and 3 x 72.

The heart has the least effort for pumping blood to endocrine
glands, when operating in a rhythm of 72 beats per minute, it beats
literally with the hologramme of the planet and the universe -- 72 bpm
is the foundation beat of compassionate love.

The universe is based on harmonic series such as 72, 144, 432. And 144
(a "C" tone in hertz) is a perfect harmonic of the speed of light, which
is 144,000 nautical miles (144,000 minutes of arc per Earth grid second)
    in the vacuum of space.
Each of these harmonics are literally a mirror, or a cascade of mirrors
    within mirrors,
    that 8 hz can look into. For example 144 is 18 x 8 hz, and 72 is 9 x 8
    hz.
The way that light travels in space is thus a 144 decimal harmonic
    (144:144,000),
The archaic Egyptian instruments that have been unearthed, so far, are
    largely tuned to 432 hz.

In ancient Greece (the school book original place for music) their
instruments were predominantly tuned at 432 hz.
Within the archaic Greek Eleusenian Mysteries, Orpheus is the god of
music, death and rebirth, and was the keeper of the Ambrosia and the
music of transformation (his instruments were tuned at 432 hz).

The shamanic/festivial use of a specific series of drums, trumpets and
harps in Sumeria, had them all tuned at 432 hz, and related harmonics of
    72 and its decimal 720.
These instruments were utilised for pre-Arabic ethnobotanical plant and
metal alchemy, which harvested the elixir of divination and divinity.
The "god-kings" utilised these within their sacred circle firestone
    dance.
In the midst of these symphonic circles, they placed a phoenix (sky fire
bird) fire stone, which was called the Sham.Mu. Within the Mesopotamian
cylinder seals (of which more than 100,000 such books have been
unearthed so far) these "fire stones" are often described to be made out
of 'superconducting-like' elements, usually monatomic iridium from
    meteorite.
Dolphins can hear our thoughts, because their sonic senses extend into
the infrasonic and ultrasonic ranges. So our alpha brain waves, like 8
hz, are music to them. Mankind, in a non-shamanic state, does not hear 8
cycles. But one can make audible its harmonics, such as 72 hz (9 x 8
hz), 144 hz (18 x 8 hz) and 432 hz. And then further synchronise the
music in binaural 8 hz, to reawaken us to the orchestra of our thoughts,
in the cathedrals of our minds.
There are many other great wonders that 432 hz phases into. Look at the
Buddhist temple of Borobudur, in Java.
At Borobudur there is a Pyramid of Mt. Meru.
Meru is the world and universal mountain created by the
Vedic original Germinating god, Manu, as he descended into this universe
and planet. Bringing with him S-AUM-A (the plant from which the elixir
of immortality is made) and Banana's................................
    little out there now.................Banana's .o.k................
o no. merc and meru..watch your pocket book all.....lol sorry a money
group undr investagated at this time for dirty money games....... not
    realative..............................

Meru is considered to be the Sonic mandala of creation: the Shri
Yantra, likened to a sonic holographic plate that upholds this universe,
    like a Diamond.
Instigated by the living Word AUM.
An interesting Vedic creation "myth", but can a sound made from a series
of syllables make a mandalic, or holographic pattern? Dr. Lawrence Blair
demonstrated on a tonographer (a sensitised sound plate which vibrates
sand to show the wave form pattern of the sound) that the sound AUM,
when sung correctly by a Tibetan monk,
indeed does make this pattern of the Shri Yantra in the resonated sand.
Which itself is astounding and reveals an ancient musical science.
The Borobudur Meru Pyramid naturally thus would have 72
stupa's, and there are, of course, 432 Buddha statues at this site. In
this coming Age, when musical instruments are tuned at 432 cycles per
second, no matter how hard the music might be, it will be harmonics that
    are produced.
It will be healthy for the body, tuning the body, vibrating in
fractal harmonics with the DNA helix sound matrix of life itself.
Those DNA helixes are musical instruments that are constantly
receiving mhz of electricity and the audial currents, which require
sound. If that sound is dis-harmonic, a DNA starts to resonate to
external disharmonics. Should the external resonating tune sources, in a
person of old age that has their DNA viruses resonating to the outside,
become harmonic (such as a 432 hz based music, with all of the over- and
undertones of 432) -- then the DNA viruses will remember their coherent
PHI-like spiral shape And possibly form of regeneration, Since 8 hz in
DNA replication has been described by Scientific American (March 1965, p
28), to be behaving as a room temperature superconductor, the use of
sound may enable such genetic alchemy.
This information has been gathered from the internet , readers
should do their Own research to validate key points ,,,"

Not only was there such a rule, this rule is STILL in force in Kenya, and
possibly other places in Africa. In the US there are only relatively large
fields for distance races on the track in places like Mt. Sac and Penn (where
there are multiple heats for different ability levels, and there is still

one settle the issue definitively? A copy of an old AAU rulebook would do the
trick, but people don't tend to keep old rulebooks lying around. When the new
book arrives, the old one gets thrown away. Are there sports libraries
somewhere that archive this sort of thing for the good of posterity?
(A google search of "lapped runner rule" turns up nothing of interest.)

BTW, there is still an AAU, but they mostly do youth sports and athletics, thus
there aren't events long enough to need such a rule any more. But look at
aauathletics.org, also the USATF hall of fame.

You might try the family/supporters of Steve Prefontaine, since Pre had such an
    "admiration" for the AAU 🙁

There is a larger issue here that bears examination. What with cd burners,
    dvd
burners, and hundred gigabyte hard drives commonplace (and terabyte drives
just around the corner,) how can we justify throwing _any_ information
away? Who knows? Your cache of spam mail from November 16, 2004 may be
just the key that unlocks some deep truth for a future historian!

I would think that all the corporate crooks on Wall Street (I think people used
to call them analysts?) that ran afoul of Elliot Spitzer might be able to come
up with a reason for the frequent destruction of such information. Ditto Frank
    Quattrone and Bill Gates.

Pick up a copy of Plato's "Republic" and read the portion about the
shortcomings of the younger generation. Do you really think that all this is
suddenly going to change in the next generation or two?

Instead, I wonder how many human-created environmental tragedies like HIV and
Killer Bees are yet to be created: Perhaps a staphylococcus with true immunity
    to antibiotics?
