  1. Hey,
Im currently shopping for a new bike. narrowed it down to the giant iguana. The problem is im in between frame sizes. im 5'11" 270pds, should i get a 17" or 19" I will use it for 70% street and 30 % trial.

    Thanks

Was that 30% trials or trail?

Trials riding requires a very specific type of bike.

Why not take both sizes for a ride and see which suits you best, things like leg and torso length means that height alone can't accurately be used to choose a frame size

Yeah take them both for a spin in the parking lot or around the block. That way you know for sure which bike fits you best.

  4. You shouldn't worry too much about height (that is frame stem height). This can be changed by changing your seat height.

A more important factor is the top tube length. Actually the effective top tube length. (The horizontal distance from the seat post to the handle bars).

Have a look at the Sheldon Brown website. Alot of imformation, with articles / links by others. May be a bit of information overload, and some artcles are better than others. (Some I disregard altogether)

    Oh I nearly forgot, I have to put in a Smilie🙂 .

  5. You can ride a mountain bike on the street but you can't ride a skinny tired street bike in the woods. You might have to get two sets of tires but they will fit the mountain bike easier.
    Good Luck
