  1. There is a great online store where they sell "I Love Running" apparel
and merchandise such as men and women shirts, sweatshirts, kids
apparel, dog apparel, bags, hats, buttons & magnets, stickers, greeting
cards, coffee mugs, baby bibs, and many more interesting items. You
will absolutely love what this store has to offer.

20% percent of the proceedings will go to the American Heart
    Association.

If you would like to visit the store, please follow the link below:

Thank you and have a great day!

  2. is this a scam?

1.scams wave the flag of a "good cause" no one will take issue with. the
title/heading of this post is waving a flag.

    2. once you get to the site there is literally _nothing_ about what the AHA is,
does, how it functions. Just red highlighted mentioning of this "brand", the
AHA. the scammer relies on the visitors sense of familiarity w/the brand
"AHA" to capitalize & connect w/the visitor in hope the effort goes
    unquestioned.

    3. the site is dedicated to e-commerce & merchandising. there is no effort to
education on the AHA or the business behind the products being merchandised.

Who are you actually spending your money with? What's their track record is
actually doing what they say? After you spend your $ w/them, how soon does the
    AHA see your money?

I believe all signs point to this OP as scamming on this newsgroup and the AHA
    on the foundation of "running".

I contacted the AHA on this OP and they have no way of knowing/determining if
the OP or their site is legit. They did tell me a legit entity using their
name should have some educational info on the AHA and should have some
background info, track record, etc. informing of previous accomplishments for
the AHA that are certifiable w/the AHA.

What makes the OP a "scam"? Does the OP or their site address authentication,
auditing of any kind? History? Track Record? How do you know 20% of your
money goes to the AHA? And when? Lots of business make tons of profit on the
"float". The use the branding value of non-profits all year, make $....have
that money work for them during the year...and perhaps at the end of the year,
make a contribution to the AHA (in his case) that they control all the books
    on.

The OP's site dives right into E-commerce, and avoids mention of who you are
spending your money with...their history, auditing, authentication, the nature
& purpose of the AHA. Total scam imo.

But this is the usenet...it's self policing. Perhaps I am wrong and perhaps
the OP can address my points, remove their cover of darkness....etc. and so
    forth.

What disturbs me about this OP is the use of the AHA and it's
brand/cause/efforts....and the OP's lack of tru disclosure on numerous levels.

Wanna pull teeth? Try and find out who that OP and the owner of that
    e-commerce site is.

it looks like a scam to me. of course they are selling a bunch of [censored] that
only a moron would buy. he'll probably get rich.

They picked the right NG then...

  5. Hello Lanceandrew. I am afraid you are incorrect in your critism about
the "I Love Running" Online Store. I manage the store and 20 percent of
the proceedings do and will go to the American Heart Association. The
more people buy "I Love Running" apparel and merchandise, the more
money American Heart Association gets. It's not some get-rich scam. It
takes a lot of work to manage and market the store. It takes time to
grow and help others, even if a lot of people think its a scam.

For anyone interested in visiting the online store, please follow the
    link below:

    Thank you,

Incorrect! Lance was 110% correct. This scumbag company has been the source of
several complaints to the BBB, and the people who investigate fraud are hot on
    his trail.
    THIEVES! DON'T GET FOOLED!

    1. Why have you avoided my points?

    2. Why does the AHA not know who you/your company is?

    3. Why don't you have any educational content on your site of the AHA? Not
    even a link.

    4. Why can't you inform your customer what you contributed to the AHA in 2003?

    5. Why can't you tell us when the AHA will see the $ after it's in your pocket?

    6. What's the name, street address, and telephone number of the company or
person that I am paying in buying a product on your website?

    7. How do you authenticate the AHA gets a penny of my purchase? (audititor?)

Folks....these are reasonable questions that the OP avoided in his response.
You cannot find out the answers to these questions on the site. I contacted
the AHA and they have no idea who this site is. I literally called the AHA and
spoke to them about this web site. They are investigating it.

If this person was legit....his/her web site would have content on the AHA,
document past contributions, openly disclose their name, address, & tel,
etc...and offer us a person at the AHA who can verify they're legit. The OP
offers none of this. Why? S-C-A-M. The worse kind...using the AHA, running,
and this ng....and hoping you're so stupid...that you will overlook the obvious
    signs of a scam.

Scam artist use brands (readily recognizable causes) to bring legitimacy to
themeselves. Most scam artist at least are smart enough to crop of a faux
story line, etc. This scam artist? he/she doesn't even bother with that. He
says something, expects/wants you to believe it hook, line, and sinker....and
cannot respond to the most basic due dilligence on my part.

He never suspected someone would contact the AHA to authenticate his
    marketing.....well I did. He's busted.....

And I never suspected I was ACTUALLY RIGHT! Damn, this never happened in my
years of trolling these charity posts before... I don't know what to do.

Or better yet why not just go to the AHA's website and 100% of what you pay
will go to the American Heart Association: www.americanheart.org

Then the poster and/or the website does make any money. It's the free
    enterprise system at the lowest.

oh jeez, were your feelings hurt? if you're sincere you should take the
feedback to heart and implement changes that will deflect this criticism in
the future. if you're insincere then just keep doing what you're doing.
you'll fool enough people to make some dough. anyone dumb enough to prance
about with an "I Heart Running" shirt is looking to get duped...why limit it
to 20%? tell people you're giving 110% of the proceeds to the AHA and you're
planning on making up the loss in volume.

Simply answer the reasonable questions lance asked you.

If you're legitimate, you should have no qualms about supplying the
answers. But since you've declined to do so twice now, offering whine
    instead...
