  1. I hope it was worth it. Now get to work and butch up.

Do I have to come over there and kick your butt?

    I think so.

Most people aren't working today anyway ;-)

Although I will be - need to do some minor repairs on the cub scout's
pinewood derby track, then get back to work on my wife's dining room
    cabinets.

Clarification: Get to work on your LC WOE : )

Sounds like two very worthwhile projects. Gotta make the
kids and the wife happy, right?

I am working a bit today - at home. My office was kind
enough to set me up with a VPN connection and a fax machine
so I don't have to drive into work on weekends. Wasn't that
    nice? (sarcasm mode off)

To put things in perspective - I've had the wood for the cabinets for
about a year and a half now. The last time my wife helped me clear
off the pile, she told me I wasn't allowed to turn them into tables
    again - just cabinets.

LMAO! Sounds like my SO and the dripping faucet. We bought
another one, but it was a year or so before he got in the
    mood to replace it.

  9. My only 'New Years Hangover' was due to the idiots who live in the
house next door to the one we own. They took their stereo outside and
had a little 'party' in the yard for themselves, their 5 kids (aged 10
down to about 2) and a few friends. It's summer here, so a backyard
party is quite a do-able thing in the evening.

At 2.40 am they FINALLY turned off the music (that was loud enough
that INSIDE our house, with closed doors, you couldn't carry on a
conversation in normal tones). At which point the kids, all hyped up
from soft-drinks and loud music, shrieked even more loudly that they
wanted it back on. It was another half-hour before things quieted
down. There was no point in asking them to turn it down, the last few
times we've tried they turn it up louder. Calling the police wasn't
really an option - on NYE they have far more important things to do
than asking someone to turn down the music for 10 minutes - only to
have it go up again as soon as the police have left.

I did think seriously of cranking up a copy of the 1812 Overture (with
cannon) at daybreak...but that would have meant I had to get up at
daybreak after being kept up until 3 am by their noise...
