  1. singles leprosy.

I actually scored once by telling her I was not interested in anything ‘full-on’ as I was still getting over my last break up (needed the space you see). Sure it sounded pretty sad, but she kept at it silly girl.

But most girls aren’t intrested unless they see you with someone else.
Tip for those single fellers out there, go to parties/dinner/functions , hire a hooker for the night, make sure shes dressed not too ‘Anna Nichol-smith’ , the following events you attend will have women who saw you with a partner come up to you no probs.
Even if that doesn’t work, at least you get some (sort of) action, even if it is paid for……..

Not sure about hitching up with a fellow female cyclist though. Imagine if she leaves you for dead out on a group ride….. how bad would that be……

have been intimidated by that. You need to become uglier, less talented,

there a market for a course on how to become less attractive??

This raises my wedding ring theory. If a man is wearing a wedding ring
and starts talking to a woman they are more likely to think it's an
innocent chat as opposed to an attempt to pick up and be more receptive.
Also if you are already taken then you are more relaxed talking to the
opposite sex and become more attractive through being relaxed.

If I'd recognised all this before I got married I might have just bought
a cheap wedding ring and worn it all the time.

DaveB "tried to make this cyclign related but gave up"

I've heard that before, but there's got to be more to it than that.
    Please. Oh God help me.

I blame it on the general perversity of the universe. Or, in other
    words, the more you want something, the less likely you are to get it;
conversely, the less you want something, the more likely you are to get
it. Ergo, when you really, really, really want to meet and hook up with
a member of the appropriate gender, the odds of it happening are
extremely low; when you really _don't_ want it, the odds are extremely
high. And it's no good just _saying_ you don't want something; no, the
universe is far too smart for that.

At this rate, I'll probably hook up and get married around my 70th or
    80th birthday...

I'm pretty skilled in that area, no official qualifications though..

Given the rate of single women to men at that age you could do alright,
but it's a bloody long time to wait just to improve the odds.

Hang on. You mean you were serious?! You're not skimming the cream off
the government so you don't have to make a living?!

I'm stunned. Absolutely stunned. There are actually people that aren't
dishonest enough to do that sort of thing?

(darnit, why does this blasted tongue always get stuck there... I swear,
it's almost as if my cheek has velcro attached.)

Or there's the alternate response: For the pleasure of my company,
surely _anybody_ would be prepared to spend the money to fly down to
    Melbourne!

    *ahem*

I'd probably best leave now. This hole seems to be getting deeper.

This whole thread is rapidly veering off topic, but anyway. 🙂 I seem to
recall reading in the Age in the past couple of days -- or was it
online? *sighs* my memory's going[1] -- that increased intelligence is a
plus for men that are seeking a partner, but a negative for women.
Something about men not wanting to have to think too much after work,
and just wanting somebody to be supportive.

Personally, I think that life like that would be boring, but maybe
    that's just me.

[1] They do say that memory is the second thing to go, after all.
