1. Today during my ride I was scroling through the top section to set it on Cadence, when I saw something which I had never noticed before that said Memory 35 min, well 35 minutes into my ride it starts buzzing at me. I thought hmm, maybe the 99Hr memory is full. Odd thing is that I have only used it so far for maybe 20hrs so I thought that I must have forgotten to turn off the stop watch at some point. Once I got home I checked my Files and counted the hrs and there were only about 19hrs on it. Any idea what this was? Oh, it did in fact record my whole ride as the file shows 1 hr 20 mintues, which is what I calculated it at. Sorry if this is a dumb question, but I am still a newbie with this Polar.

Another odd thing is that today was the first time I pushed a big gear hard with the HRM on and when I got home and scrolled through the data my max heart rate was incredibly high, 227  !! I just started training with an HRM last month and can routinely hit 180's without super hard effort, but 227!?! Wouldn't I need to be on 'Angeldust' to hit that since I am 35? 😕

FWIW I can ride at a good clip for a decent amount of time and stay in the low 160's without burning out.

Thanks.

2. Regarding the Memory question. In the 725 User Manual page 48 (page 50 in the PDF file) polarusa.coms725.pdf seems to me that if you saw Mem35 in the display you had 35 hours of record time available in the 725.

Page 32 in the book (PDF page 34) lists the max record times, based on what you have turned on in the 725 and the sample (or recording) rate.

Regarding the 227 heart rate. I can think of 2 possibilities. 1) The 725 picked up some interference on your ride and your heart rate was incorrect. Or 2) You indeed did max out at 227. If you are in the 180’s without a super hard effort maybe, with a super hard effort, your heart rate is higher, so possibly the 227 is correct? If there was interference, try the same workout at a different location, and see what happens

3. Thanks, but why the audible long beep around the 35 min mark? And if I had only used it for roughly 20 hrs shouldn't I have about 79 hours left. The long beep actually startled me because I never set it and never had any piece of my biking equipment make noise before.

Well, I lied my bell makes noise 🙂 Yes, I have a bell. :o

I will try to repeat the workout and see if I get a reallly high HR again.

Thanks again.

How often did you set the recording interval? Every 5 seconds?
When recording speed, cadence, and altitude, recording every 5 seconds only allows you for a total of 8h 56min. At 15 seconds the total recording is 26h 48min.
See page 32 of the manual.

The 227 max hr is due to an interference, probably from a power line, or from you car if you started or ended the exercise from inside. It happened to me once as I forgot to stop the recording at the end of the ride.

5. This makes perfect sense, I think I did set it to shorter intervals. I thought the HR was a fluke too, guess I'll find out in a day or two. Thanks.

I'm not sure about the beep. Have you set up any interval training in the HRM? It may beep when an interval begins and ends? OR did you set the alarm?

7. Didn't set either but like the post above, I may have run out of time since I believe I set my intervals to shorter time periods. I'll let you know what it does next ride....
