upto 724mm. The web page access gave 100mm since midnight. I think all

I live in Wensleydale and am housebound!

Had tickets for Cirque du Soleil today in Manchester !!! F&#+"K I was really
looking forward to that - and no refunds cause it hasn't been cancelled.

When I tried to go out this morning every road is either blocked by fallen
trees or flooded.

Even the diversion to avoid the floos is flooded !!!

Aysgarth Falls have to be seen to be believed (assuming you manage to dodge
all the branches and collapsed walls). Having lived here for 10 years I have
never seen so much water pounding down the river, and the whole valley is
flooded as far as the eye can see.

Radio 4 seemed rather schizophrenic this morning. One minute it was telling
no one to go near a road on pain of death - the next minute it was talking
about all the football fixtures today (which don't appear to have been
cancelled)!

Miserable and fed up ...

Last night's weather mentioned Capel Curig as having had over 5 inches in 24
hrs. As confirmed here:

There seems to be a curious split in the weather, even within that huge
red area on the TV map. The River Aire is flooding but no more than is
often the case in winter and hasn't AFAIK been subject to any flood
warnings. By contrast the Wharfe at Ilkley just the other side of
Rombalds Moor has.

Here in Keighley I didn't even notice much of a gale overnight but that
perhaps is because I didn't as much as stick my nose outside.

Last time I looked at a map Keighley was a tad further away than that
from Wensleydale. :-)

I didn't notice any unusual noises overnight and most of the small
branch debris on the grass has been there since before Xmas.

IIRC that's nowhere near the record, which was something like 176 mph on
Cairngorm. And the USA has clocked something over 200. Still, 128 is
