For a three or four months I've had a persistent ache in my lower right back. I get occasional stabbing pains in the base of my penis. There was also blood in my urine when I had a check-up a few weeks ago.
I've had a few tests done, but nothing has shown up yet. There is no sign of kidney stones, and kidney function is normal. There are no testicle lumps.
I'm getting a bit anxious as I'm leaving the UK in a month (originally from New Zealand) and it takes so long to make appointments and get test results back.
Could any of you suggest any possible diagnoses, or other things I should be tested for? The symptoms are worrying me, and I'd really like to find out what it is so I can start treating it.
geeez. See a chiropractor. This more than likely related to tailbone misallignment. This is quite common among people with back problems.

Are you sure that infections have been eliminated? I believe urinary infection can sometimes be difficult to detect (and treat) because of continuous urinary flushing. Second opinion possible? MikeV

What you describe is exactly the same symptoms I had from a urinary tract infection. It was "cured" by Trimethoprim in few days but it as come back a few times since. All I do now is drink lots of water as soon as I feel the symptoms coming on.

Did they do a PSA test? Was it normal (under 5 or so). Was it elevated? Now much was it elevated. If the PSA is normal then its probably just an infection that can be treated with antibiotics. If it fixes with antibiotics you are lucky... if not you need to agressively pursue the matter, your doctor will know what to do.
the problem is probably in your kidneys not your testes.

Trying to save that hair? I say lose it as there things more important than hair. Using finasteride is a "good" way to find yourself posting on one of the Yahoo impotence forums or Usenet iimpotence forum.

You do better in preventing prostate cancer in maintaining your androgen levels and taking ample doses of vitamin D3. An ample dose for our purposes would be 4000 IU/ 100mcg during the late fall and winter months. Selenium and mixed tocopherol vitamin E would also be good as would tomato products.
