  1. Gonna get my foot fixed tomorrow. 3 weeks without bearing any
weight, another 3 without running (best case scenario, says
    the doc).

I hope to start water running after 3 weeks, if the wound in
    healed enough.

For a slow, old fat guy, this will be the longest I have
had to take off for a bit over 10 years (when I first started
running). I have some exercise bands from shoulder surgery
a couple years ago that I plan on using while laid up. Anybody
have any other ideas to keep me from going insane?

No Doug, I cant do that, my gal lives in your neck of the
woods and I live in Indiana 🙂

Is that all you can come up with?
Hell, at that pace, Miss Anne will
    have a better response!
    (I'll miss you, too)

  5. Leo, What is up with that foot? Man, I looked at the picture from
November, and if you have been discussing it here, I missed it. What
    happened?

    Pretty ugly aint it?

About 12 years ago I had tumors removed from the plantar
fascia (sp). It got infected and during the healing process
it scarred pretty bad. The scar rubs on the shoes, opens
up, bleeds, re-scars....constantly (I cut the inside out of
every shoe to minimize the rubbing and orthotics dont
help). I finally got to the point that the constant pain
got to me enough that I opted for surgery.

The doc is going to remove the scar, down to the fascia,
and put on a skin graft.

I recognize that by not following doctors orders after
the first surgery, I caused the problem. This time
I am going to do exactly what I am told!

The positive side was all the attention that my bloody
running shoes got after a long run or race 😉

In any case, I look forward to having it gone
and not cutting up my shoes any more. (6 hours
    and counting)

  8. Well, you are probably not going to see this until after surgery, so:
Best wishes for a complete recovery.

And isn't it surprising what attention even a little blood on a shoe
will attract? I can imagine that you have had more than a little, but
even the few drops you get from a toenail rubbing on another toe for
10-20 miles will really send people.
Keep us posted on the surgery/recovery.
