a repeat of Auchnafree Hill as the weather was awful in the Crieff area and the forecast poor for the day elsewhere. I drove up to the dam at 11:45 to find wild windy and snowy weather at the car park. It takes about 45 minutes to get to the head of the Loch then a quick cut uphill to cross the same track as it double back to the high ground above the reservoir. The wind was whipping the spindrift into a frenzy and I had to battle out to the cairns that marks the summit plateau. Touch the cairn, turn round and back downhill. Made the car park in under 3 hours but a good stretch of the legs none the less. Just 2 weeks away from going to Kilimanjaro so I need all the hill time I can get. Here's hoping next Saturday's forecast is a bit kinder. Our Fundraisng for the trek is going well with just over £27,500 raised so far for the National Autistic Society which will be doubled by Vodafone on completion of the trek. mine was a repeat of Hart Fell and the weather was awful and the forecast poor for the day elsewhere. and then a repeat of Cairnsmore of Carsphairn and the weather was awful and the forecast poor for the day elsewhere.
We had a small snowfield to cross and I told my friend, "don't worry, I've got the snow chains with me" True! to add weight to my pack, I put the car snowchains in the bottom and carried them around all day.
