  1. Just curious how much you gained and how much you've lost so far........

My daughter is 9 1/2 months old. I'm breastfeeding.

If you are breastfeeding, have you noticed a difference is how quickly you
    lose?

  2. It's been a long time since I was a new Mom but I always found it easy to
lose weight when I was breastfeeding. You are putting out about 1,000
    calories a day in milk.

    Hello and welcome!
    I'm not a new mom, I have 3 kids(ds-5, dd-3 and dd-1.5). I'm currently
nursing my 18 month old. My weight loss seems a bit slower than last
time, but I am down 7 lbs in a week, so that is good. 🙂

  4. I am a new mom...dont know how much I gained, so far I have lost 20lbs, and
I quit nursing in Sept.....I never try to lose weight when I am nursing...

  5. Well, mine is about to turn two, but...
During the pregnancy I put on 60 lbs. Left 30 in the delivery room, and
packed on 10lbs while breastfeeding. That's right, you CAN gain weight while
breastfeeding. DD had lots of colic related issues, so I was not eating
everything in sight at that time. Just the basics of meat, veggies, and
water. I breastfed for 8 months.
I now have about 30 left to lose.

My daughter just turned two. I nursed her till she was 19 months.

I didn't lose while I was nursing. Nor did I lose when I stopped
    nursing.

    Not much help here; sorry.

  9. Hi Carol Ann

Our girls are getting older and bigger! I gained 15.5kgs when I was
pregnant, all but 2 kg (4.5 pounds) in the first half. I lowcarbed the rest
of the pregnancy. I lost 6.5kg with the delivery, and when I was
breastfeeding I lost another 2kg. I only fed Madison for 3 1/2 weeks, but
during that time I was so hungry. I have never been so hungry in my life.
I ate so much! If I had continued to feed, I don't know if I would have
lost much more since I was eating alot due to the hunger. Over the next 7-8
months I went up and down those 2kg. I couldn't stick to LC for more than 2
weeks at a time without blowing it. I had a pretty big year due to some
huge work projects with long hours, and building a new house, and I could
    never really focus on me.

Since the start of December I have been doing well with LC, and have lost
5kg so far. I even managed to not cheat over Christmas. I think this time
I'll be able to stick with it, it's second nature to me again now, and I
    feel so much better.

I belong to the Pregnant Atkids Yahoo group, and the women there have varied
experiences with losing weight while breastfeeding.

Our girls really are growing so quickly!! Morgan is now 29 1/2" (probably
30 by now) and 21 lbs. She also has 10 teeth now. There could be more, but
I'm not able to get a good look in her mouth.

I feel HORRIBLE about my weight. I've recently started to get manicures,
pedicures and facials. Last week I cut all of my hair off. I try daily to
improve myself whether it is through walking or saying no to what I know I
    should.

I wonder if the breastfeeding is causing me to be more 'hungry' than usual??
I am famished ALL the time.

I will NOT give up trying........every step, whether big or small IS a step,
    right??

    I saw Madison's pictures. She's adorable!!!

  13. LOL - she certainly acts like she hasn't been fed since she was 3 weeks
    old!! Boy, if
we're late with a feed we certainly hear about it.

Considering she's in a waist-to-ankle cast, that's how I keep her thin you
    know 😉

going up and down. She still doesn't have much in the way of hair though.
What is there is getting quite fair, so it makes it even harder to see, LOL.

Madison has been in a waist-to-ankle cast for the last eight weeks, and has
another 10 weeks to go. We discovered that her left hip was dislocated
(Developmental Dysplagia of Hip), so she went into hospital to have it put
in place, and the hip spica (cast) applied. This has certainly made life
interesting over the last couple of months. She can't have a bath now, so
we are now quite adept at sponge baths. Jason has made her a little chair
and table to help her have some upright time.

Because of the abducted position of her legs we can't measure her length. I
did measure her just before and after her surgery, so I know how much the
cast weighs. Last week Madison weighed 8.58kg (18lb 14oz).

Poor little thing! I can't imagine having to give a baby sponge baths
only for MONTHS (as I recall, babies can be a tad on the sloppy side :-)
OTOH, I imagine it makes it harder for her to wiggle away from you :-)
I'm sure she'll make up for it with GUSTO once the cast comes off.

She and Morgan are both adorable babies and it's been great to follow
their progress here in the newsgroup!

Yes, especially now that she no longer wears bubble type outfits. She's so

good for you for doing something for yourself--it is hard sometimes to
justify the personal pampering, but I feel it is one of the most important
things we can do for ourselves-the old adage of "if Momma ain't happy,
ain't nobody happy" certainly is true. We have to remember to take care of
ourselves so that we can take care of our families.
