"Meanwhile, the Sugar Association, worried about the declining sales,
is going to spend at least $3 million a year for the next three years
to give consumers "permission to use sugar," according to spokeswoman
Melanie Miller. "In moderation, it's not evil," she said, noting a
    teaspoon is only 15 calories."

If sugar is not evil in moderate amounts then it must be evil in
amounts greater than moderate amounts, is it not?

Joe says he never bowls on Tuesdays. Does that imply that Joe bowls on
    Mondays?

But I wouldn't say that water is not evil if taken in small amounts unless I
felt that more typical amounts were harmful.

Typical amounts now were not so 30 years ago.

Without water you die. Without sugar you live a long healthy life.

  7. "Without water you die. Without sugar you live a long healthy life."

Nope, sugar,ie. glucose/fructose, is the most basic source of energy for
day to day metabolism, if it isn't in the diet then the body breaks down
fat and/or protein to create a form of it it can use for energy. Without
such energy sources you die. The most basic use of water on an ongoing
basis is to make this possible.

  8. "In an age where there is no lack of "high energy" refined carbs and
sugars (and resulting obesity and obesity related disease), you
advocate the continued consumption of nutritionally empty high energy
refined sugar. That shows your utter stupidity on this topic.

Plenty of glucose can be be gotten from much better and just as
available sources healthy nutritionally-dense wholefood sources. We do
not need one single grain of sugar to be added to our diets. And if it
wasn't there we would not miss it (nutritionally speaking) one iota."

Never have I advised eating sugar in excess, I have however commented on
the quality of the science/nutritional information you present and correct
it's usual flawed content. After all is ssaid and done, the glucose your
body uses from a candy bar or an equal amount from a whole food source are
the same to the process of metabolism. The reason to choose the latter as
the usual source of energy is the additional nutrition contained in it,
which doesn't exclude the former as an occasional snack and as long as
both are eaten with an eye toward not exceeding one's calorie
requirements.. Do recall this started with your silly assertion through
tortured logic from a cherry picked phrase that sugar makers now agree
sugar as a substance is evil.

No, sugar is not evil, eating foods containing it as an added substance is
not evil and having it as part of a normal diet is not abnorbal and making
obsessive compulsive efforts to avoid it are not needed if priority is
first given to one's nutritional and weight status needs.

Reading carefully and understanding what others write seems not to be one
of your strong suites. The message I have presented in this and other
threads has always been the same from the start. When dealing with some
asserted bit of nonsense based on nutrition theology the entire message
can and should not be repeated when correcting the nonsense.

Sugar isn't evil. It use is excessive and unwise according
way many people use it. People who push it use
maybe considered evil. The Toad seems to rushing his
postings as his spelling has degraded.

What they need is program to teach the alcoholic to convert
    sugar into ethanol.
