The food pyramid is crumbling, but will most Americans notice?
By Clayton Collins | Staff writer of The Christian Science Monitor

The food pyramid was orignally issued under 20 years
ago. Folks act like it's been in place forever. A
flash in the pan and the pyramid is gone.

Is this true? I remember it from HS and that was over 35 years ago.

I don't remember it from high school, and I graduation in 1973. All I
remember being taught were the 5 basic food groups. Then again, I don't
remember being taught about the food groups in high school, either, just
in elementary school. Doesn't mean they didn't teach it -- it could
mean I just wasn't paying attention because I figured I already knew it
    from elementary school.

You're probably remembering the 4 food groups, not the pyramid.

I think it depends on your definition of food pyramid or which one
you're talking about. I recall hearing the term used decades ago too.
The official food pyramid from the USDA was first issued, I believe,
    in 1992.

Actually, it was in existence when I attended Grammar School and
