As I mentioned in an earlier post, I'm reading through _Tasting Brazil:
Regional Recipes and Reminiscences_. I just ran across a drink recipe which
I felt COMPELLED to share:
--------------------------------
Suco de Abacaxi e Beterraba
"This is one of the more unusual vegetable juices that can be found in the
Rio boutiques. The beet juice gives the mixture its deep red color while the
pineapple adds its distinctive taste."
1 small beet, peeled and diced
1/2 cup fresh pineapple chunks
Place the diced beet and pineapple chunks in a blender or food processor and
liquefy. Chill and serve. You can garnish this with a pineapple spear if
you're serving it as a nonalcoholic cocktail.
--------------------------------
Even though I *like* beets, I'd have a hard time downing this. Hmmm....
unless maybe I added some vodka, and...carrot juice? Corn, and then strain
it? I dunno. Maybe it's irredeemable.
