Dave is the Warrandyte climb the equivalent of say a 1:20?

I haven't done 1:20 but had a quick look at the cycle2max info and it
sounds similar in distance but a steeper climb than Warrandyte to
Kangaroo Ground. Any comments from the guys that have done both?

I went out with Dutch and Blah just before Christmas to do the 1:20......we
rode about 20km or so to the base, did the climb, had coffee at the top, and
rode back. From memory it took us about 20min or so to get up it so I guess
that it is a bit longer than the climb out of Warrandyte (best for this
climb is about 14min). I was taking it pretty easy and waiting for the
steep bit and then all of a sudden I was at the top?? I am pretty sure that
I could have gone a fair bit harder without too much problem. The actual
1:20 climb is a great road that is pretty smooth and winds through the
rainforest so you get heaps of shade. We came down the hill pretty quick
(about 8 minutes from memory) and there was one left hander that was tighter
than it looked and both Dutch and myself ended up right on the line at about
60km/h or so (thank god nothing was coming the other way!!).

So my call is that if you can do 1:20 then the climb out of Warrandyte
shouldn't be too hard.

Oh [censored] is Lindsay gonna be there again. That means I don't get a rest

Bulk? More like all. 50 metres? It was about 5 metres from the top - I sure
don't have the form (or ever have had it) to ride in front of her for 50
metres on a climb of any distance.

As for 'low', she _says_ she was going to take a turn on the front on the
run from St Andrews, but _conveniently_ we ran out of road and hit the
roundabout where Dave and BT were waiting. Yes... very convenient.

As for the accusations (from Dave?) that we're scared of being beaten by a
'girl', that's ridiculous. We've been comprehensively beaten by a very
strong rider. That simple. I do realise that she's a strong rider who has
probably been made cranky by my summit points stealing tactic - I don't look
forward to trying to follow her now she knows the climb.

Mission accomplished. Now let's see how I cope with a family ride this
arvo towing the trailer bike. I think I'll pick a gear lower than the
trailer bike so my daughter does all the work. 🙂

New topspeed record for moi. 91.4kph down 'the hill'. big thanka to Gags for being... Gags 😄

The newly reprised extra loop down to Watson's Creek and back up Alma Rd was VERY noice. The added 'Dutchy' tactic of not telling people about the nastee little incline at the start of Alma only seemed to make them all mad and they dropped me/Ess'93!!!
Penalty points to Brett for scoping the course on friday in the car!!!!!!!!!

and BRs first serious mechanical with Blah's chain lookin like it was on the verge of splitting in 2 and 'dropping' all the time. Strangely this happened on all the hilly bits... 🙄

Great ride all up.. Hills are much better when there are other people around
suffering at the same time. Sign me up, I'll be there from now on.

Good to hear you enjoyed it. Chain held up for the 12 kays home (as it did
for the 60 before that), but thanks for the offer of a lift. Now I just hope
I can sort it out during the week. Let's see... new chain... 8000k of use...
