After searching for some time, I finally found a hand-held calculator that
will calculate pace without having to use extra steps to convert to tenths
and then back to minutes and seconds.
It is a Casio fx-115ms scientific calculator that I purchased from office
max for $15. They are also available at target and amazon.com.
You can enter hours, minutes, seconds and divide by miles and get the answer
directly in minutes and seconds. The calculator thinks you are entering an
angle (degrees, minutes and seconds) but the calculation and answer is the
same for time. You can also go the other way and find total time for a given
pace and miles.
I send this information to this group because I had posted a message asking
for help in locating such a calculator about a week ago and didn't get the
answer I was looking for. So, maybe this discovery of mine might be useful
to someone else.
As I said in the other message, I do use the pace calculator at
coolrunning.com which is great, but I wanted a portable calculator that was
independent of the internet and my computer.
