A Romantic Evening at the Damsel Household

sleep.
Soooooo ... we decided to have our Valentine's Day dinner.
Opened the chicken kiev and was almost knocked over by the stench. It
seems I overestimated how long it would need to thaw.
Fortunately, we had a couple fresh steaks (NY Strip, I think).
A few minutes after the smoke alarm went off, the steaks were done.
We ate the steaks, which were wonderful. Gotta get more of them sometime.
Crash went to bed.
I'm sitting here on the computer, waiting to get tired enough to go to bed
again.

Ain't romance grand?

At least my "no plans for Valentine's Day" netted me a dinner out
(linguine with white clam sauce at a local Greek/Italian eatery)
with family. Hope you got a raincheck .... :-)

We had a late lunch/early supper at the Timberlodge near us. Ribs for
He and prime rib for Me. Then I went downtown to hear Queen Noor of
Jordan speak. Got lost in the parking ramp -- felt like Charlie on the
MTA. Stopped at Niece Patty's on the way home to see how she's holding
up. She's okay; we'll see what tomorrow and Thursday bring.

Sounds about as good as mine, Carol.. After swaying back and forth on what
to make on a limited budget, I realized we had grilled shark already, so
fine, shark tacos it is. TFM finally came home from work (in a foul mood,
no less - tough day) and I proceeded to chop the ingredients. Well, lucky
for him his new processor and motherboard arrived, so he promptly installed
the processor on this machine and said, Happy Valentines day.........You can
have my old processor and here's a new motherboard. You just need RAM, a
hard drive, a case, a power supply, a video card, a wireless card, a
monitor, a keyboard and a mouse. Gee, thanks, I think.

So, I cook dinner, he's busy testing his damn video games with his new
processor. All I hear is loud rap music as he's testing. I tell him dinner
is done. Still more rap music.

I wait about 15 minutes more. Still more video games.

I pout, I slam the bedroom door and I try to read, but can not for the
shaking of the damn house from his video games.

We argue, we finally eat, he's happy, his mouth is on fire from habeneros
and jalepenos and he proceeds to fall asleep in front of the computer,
spilling a full beer in his hand which I have to clean up.

Happy Valentine's Day.

Ray's. It's on West 7th, not far from my house.
Pizza/pasta/salads/traditional Greek and Italian dishes
(Parmagianas, lasagna, kebabs, pastitsio, etc.) The owner is an
ex-pat Noo Yawkuh. If he were still in NY the place would be a
diner. Decent stuff -- not the best Italian or Greek here by a long
shot, but it's tasty, convenient, priced well, and the place is
welcoming and attractive.

Love is grand! Unless we go into town, wintertime is
hibernation time for us. The girls watch TV and I read
novels. And speaking of CSI, the daughter wanted some
kind of TV option called TIVO for Christmas. It was the
number one item on her list, so it was a given unless the
price was too much. Anyway, we got it and it's like a huge
automatic recorder for TV shows, and she immediately
figured out how to set it to automatically record every CSI
show. She watches them one right after another, and it
appears there is a never-ending stream of new ones. It
sorta drives me crazy! Haha!

I WANT TIVO!!!!!!!!!!! We've talked about it several times, and we'd both
have a use for it. Hopefully soon.

He, that happened to me, too, at the place I lived in California,
despite using the vent. I was very happy about the meat prices there -
even though everybody kept saying it was getting expensive.
