Laughlin that Hoi does almost a kata of movements prior to deadlifting.
Looks pretty cool. Watson does an 'arms up and dive', but lacks that
    eastern mysticism.

Lo and behold, Harnek Rai posts a bunch of old power lifting and there is
    Hoi caught in mid trance.

    Way cool to watch.

I shared the image with the martial artists in the dept and they fully
understood how/why Hoi, or any other individual, would use such a
ritual to prepare for a significant feat.

    Thanks for sharing the image.

Hoi is a lot of fun and a totally spontaneous guy.
After being in Europe for the Men's IPF championships he travelled
around for a couple of minths and showed up unannounced to coach our
    bench press team in Finland.
That guy could talk his way in anywhere.
He managed to talk his way into one of the private sauna clubs (the
ones where they jump into the sea in December afterwards)
We were 4 Canadians walking around Vaasa in the dark with just our
    track suits on.
He was out of powelifting for a while after taking a job as a dive
instructor on a Carribiean tour boat.
