  1. I'm always looking for the best gear to keep me safe when I'm hitting rock gardens or diving into steep technical descents. I saw that the Pikio Si Oblik scored 4.61 in Virginia Tech's helmet test, which is the best score ever recorded there. Instead of a standard liner, it uses a modular construction with independently moving sections designed to manage linear and rotational forces, especially in angled impacts.

    It's not the lightest option at 284g for a medium, and at $379, it's definitely a commitment. I'm curious if the massive jump in test scores outweighs the extra weight and cost compared to the MIPS helmets most of us use. Does the record-breaking safety rating make the higher price and bulkier profile worth it for you?
