It is finally time for the 2026 Deutschland Tour! The event begins today, August 19, with a 2.6km prologue, followed by four road stages through August 23. It is always exciting to see a strong mix of talent, especially with German riders like Nils Politt, Max Schachmann, John Degenkolb and Michel Hessman competing at home.
There are some interesting names in the lineups this year. We have Isaac del Toro and Nils Politt for UAE, as well as Paul Magnier from Soudal QuickStep, who recently won the ADAC Cyclassics Hamburg. Lidl Trek is bringing Giulio Ciccone and Mathias Vacek, while Visma has Wilco Kelderman. Seeing that variety of styles in one race makes for a great atmosphere.
Given the short opening prologue and the four subsequent road stages, does the startlist favor pure sprinters, puncheurs, or GC riders? I would also love to know if anyone has tips for watching these stages from the roadside while staying safe and visible.
