A decision on the park's future is expected by March 2027. Until then, we are left with the same old conflict between official safety standards and actual community use. Should local authorities prioritize negotiating with young trail builders to create designated riding areas, or is demolition the only responsible option for landowners?
Demolition is a short sighted move that usually just pushes the problem elsewhere. Negotiating for designated areas is the better path because it turns rogue builders into legitimate stewards of the land. Regular trail maintenance and respecting trail closures keep local singletrack open for everyone, but that only happens when there is a mutual respect between the riders and the landowners. If the authorities just bulldoze everything, they lose the chance to teach the next generation how to build sustainable trails that actually last.
