  1. Moving from an upright road bike to a recumbent changes the entire approach to cockpit ergonomics. The hand positions are fundamentally different, which alters how a rider reaches and operates shifting and braking controls compared to the familiar grip of drop bars. This shift in geometry often requires a period of adjustment to build the muscle memory needed for quick reactions.

    For those who have made the switch, how long did it take for the new control placement to feel intuitive during active riding? Additionally, how does the wrist angle on a recumbent compare to the various hand positions available on a standard endurance frame for long distance comfort?

  2. While a recumbent is a completely different animal, the transition to new control placements on a road bike can be a real eye-opener for comfort. After years of using Shimano, the switch to Campy hoods was a game changer because the hands no longer ache during long rides. It really comes down to that ergonomic shape and how it supports the wrist, which is often more critical for endurance than the actual bike geometry.
