I'm really uncertain how to handle the ab problem. I've got a
deformation there that I've been told can only be handled by
abdominoplasty. The two vertical bands that you can feel below your
sternum don't meet on me and it causes a bulging belly. My dim
understanding is that this was related to have the abdominal muscles cut
for a c-section with my first child and they didn't heal right before I
got pregnant with the next child. I've worked on my abs quite a lot
over the years. They're hard, they're just misshapen. I've discussed
surgical correction with my doctor before but she says it's elective
surgery unless I get a hernia. Hard to hope for a hernia, so I just
live with it.
I've also got excess skin that is just THERE in large quantities. It
distributes itself reasonably well in the pool but when standing it just
flops around. I can hang it over my underwear. You'll notice it
hanging over my knees as well. It's clearly a matter for a plastic
surgeon... if I cared. Which I don't. I'd rather spend my money on
educated kids. I don't aspire to be a fitness model.
I'm at 23% body fat now and that was my goal: healthy for a 40 year old
woman. At the moment I want to lose more to be athletic enough for my
triathlon, but that's not a sustainable lifestyle. 23% body fat is.
This is 80 solid pounds gone from my life.
