Thrown knife embedded in helmet A 24-year-old cyclist had a lucky escape when a knife was thrown at him while he was on his bike, becoming embedded in his helmet.
He was on Shaw Lane in Stoke Prior, Worcestershire, on 17 February when he noticed a group of youths and a man.
As the cyclist passed them, he felt a blow on the back of his head. The victim was shaken but not injured.
Four of the offenders are described as aged 13 to 14 years old and a fifth was in his 20s.
The knife is described as having a brown wooden handle and a sharp curved blade.
Anyone with information is asked to contact Bromsgrove police.

Possibly a reason not to wear a helmet. Would they have thrown the knife had the cyclist not been wearing one?

If people think that something is protected then they may, in "jest", think it's all right to bounce something off the protection. After all, with that protection in place, they won't be hurt, right?
