    MARCH 14TH 2005

    The Dove

Yesterday I woke up feeling destroyed. I mean really down in the dumps
like The Dude from the The Big Labowski. I didn't have Walter there to
talk about Vietnam or to take me bowling. I pretty much had just myself
and the computer to get my message across.

I went into my kitchen to look out of the window. I have some trees
that block my view from the neighboring buildings. There is an open
branch there and as I was staring out the window blankly a Dove landed
on the branch and looked right into my eyes.

This wasn't a normal Dove that I have seen anywhere else in Miami in the
last 7 months. I have never seen a bird like this one in Miami, it
looked so peaceful and together unlike my life. As a matter of fact I
have never seen a bird sitting on that branch. As the bird sat there
looking into my eyes for a few seconds I thought, "I feel like God is
checking up on me through this bird." One of his creations has stopped
by to check in on me and then fly away. I desperately wanted this bird
to stay on the branch once I realized what was happening, or what
    I perceived was happening.

I felt the touch of God. I always remember American Indians having
experiences like this in movies or on television and I felt like the
same situation had just happen to me. Instead of a Crow it was a Dove.

I haven't felt this touch since I was driving through the desert last
year getting out of Los Angeles totally destroyed and fleeing for my
life to get away from the drugs. That night in the peak of my
desperation a shooting star flew right across the sky in front of me. I
felt the touch then and I felt that same touch yesterday with the Dove.

Today I am going to go out and try and find a new job. My current job
is absolutely horrible. I have such a respect for those who are forced
into jobs such as working stock for their entire life. I can't do it, I
am going insane in there. I also have to try and get in touch with a
lawyer to hear my story to see if I can build a case against the USOC
    and USA Cycling.

I think this is what is needed to make a change in the Olympic Games and
sports as a whole. I must do this to help the current generation so
they don't end up like Generation 95. Never in a million years as an 18
year old did I think my friends and I would be in such a position. It
all starts falling apart under you and you have no support, you only
have your supporters secretly supporting drug abuse and pushing you
towards it. It needs to be a number one priority to have anti doping
athletes in the Olympic Training Center.

This is beyond bizarre. He's got the picture of Clinger from Velonews
there. Like Clinger's transformation into Moko Man was somehow a result
of being on the 1995 Junior Worlds team.

Maybe there was something in the water in San Marino.

  3. Matt's world (in his mind) is falling apart. He's got a [censored] job,
"coulda been a contenda" reality, a destroyed rep and a difficult
decision regarding his next steps. And the Marines chose the fat guy
(what's your major malfuntion numbnuts!?!) from Law and Order (full
metal jacket) yet wouldn't take him. That's gotta hurt.

Matt needs to take stock of what he's got and regroup. He's an
accomplished athlete, health intact. He's young and still able to go
in so many different directions. Even cycling (for next season). If I
were him, I'd get a job selling t-shirts at the beach and then hunt for
girls at night for a while. But I'd get away from cycling for a while,
    cold turkey.

I think he should just go back on drugs. Isn't this situation the
exact reason people start taking them?

  5. How much if his rantings are about cleaning up the sport and how much are
    just about Matt?

Miami is a great place for him, as it's one of the most narcissitic places
    on earth.

Well. most people under 30 talk mostly about themselves, even when
they think it is about something else.

People over 30 mostly talk about themselves, but they stop pretending
    it is about something else.

  7. The Pot he was smoking in LA must have been laced with something bad.
He should try to build a case against the drug dealer that sold him the
    bad pot...

  8. I get Carl's point but your reply made me laugh.

So's my dog. She's on steroids. Still can't keep up with the Scottie
puppy, which is largely like a dry land piranha. You pick thiings up
in the house and there's this 6 pound growling menace holding onto the
    other end...

Maybe I need to move the Aussie to EPO.

  10. Not to mention that Lewis has been retired since 1996.

I do not read DeCanio's rants so I have no idea what criteria he uses.

Also, his standards for Doper of the Month are slipping.
He's got Carl Lewis who is supposed to have come up
positive for cold meds in trace amounts that would be
    legal today.

If he's going to go outside the sport of cycling you'd
think he'd at least pick on someone guilty of the hard
juice, not cold meds. Hell, VDB's dog is on nastier
    [censored] than Carl Lewis.

The worst sin for a site like that is to be boring.

I'd say he got this one right...

  12. Damn, when are people going to get over the fact lots of poeple have
pets on steriodal anti-inflammatory drugs? Some of these people might
even race a bike for a living (though not very often apparently).

Yeah right, a dog is gonna get "'roid rage" from a Medrol dose pack
(though vets normall Rx cheaper [censored]). Steroids for aging dogs is very
    normal. EPO is NOT.

  13. Oh really? And what "nasty [censored]" would that be? If I had a choice
between the 2 for a PED I would take the Sudafed. That stuff works
almost as well as a stiff espresso.

But did you read about Armstrong's dog?!

So you're in the 'don't give the Aussie EPO' column. Looks like she's
finessed it anyway - she's learned that Pelli the Piranha can't bite
through her tail feathers when she sits on him. The puppy still moves,
    but he's shorter now...

The 40kg Newf/Irish Setter/Border collie cross here thought he was a
reasonable-sized, fairly fast kinda dog. Until that is, the cute lil
puppy grew into a 45kg Malamute [censored] and sat on him.
