  1. On the recommendation of several friends, I bought a Polar S120 heart
rate monitor to replace a Timex HRM. I'm a marathoner, and I've found
it much friendlier than the Timex, displaying split time, lap time, and
average heart rate simultaneously when I record a lap. Unfortunately,
I'm having a problem that they can't help me with, because they haven't
experienced it. While I am exercising, and almost invariably when I
want to record a lap, the display cycles through my time InZone and
other information. I have to wait for it to return to the normal
display before I can record the lap. It's only an annoyance, since it's
only a few seconds delay each mile. But it bugs the hell out of me, and
it will be a problem when I hit the track.

IIRC, it has happened to me in both Basic and Exe modes. Did I get my
watch in some mode that I don't know about? Is this a "feature" added
to S120s more recent than my friends'? Your help is appreciated.

    Thanks,

  2. Brian Wakem answered my question in uk.rec.running. When you bring the
watch close to the chest strap, it cycles through this information. On
some models it also turns on the backlight. It's a neat feature, now
that I know about it. I'll just have to keep the watch further from my
    body when recording my laps.
