Yeah, piano wire is a little harsh, particularly because I think Jim is talking
about me.
What is fun about mountain biking? Exercise and fitness--yes. Enjoying the
outdoors and the natural environment-yes. But it is also the thrill of riding
your bike. Testing your skills by going faster than 15 mph on occasion is part
of this fun. Most of us do it. I do, but I try and do it in a safe and
controlled manner. I don't speed around blind corners, and I ride differently
depending on the day of the week and the preserve I am in.
If I get a ticket I try and think of it as the cost of my hobby of mountain
biking. I don't know how I can do things differently. Sometimes you can't keep
your speed under the limit. The terrain is too steep. Is it right that this is
where they put up a speed trap? I refuse to limit my riding to their
definition of what is acceptable. I will continue to be safe and controlled,
but I'm also gonna have a little fun on occasion and brake a couple laws, but do
so a safely as I can. Most of us do the same thing on the road. Do you always
go the spped limit on the freeway?
It's the way it is. My creedo: do the best you can, try and get along, have
some fun with out hurting others.
