Here's the thing. I'm 38 now. 20 years ago my dentist told me I had impacted
wisdom teeth and not to worry about it.
That seems to me an odd position for a dentist to take on any
impacted tooth problem.

I *think* it was an impacted, kinda sideways, fractured/broken wisdom
tooth I had removed via oral surgery somewhere around the age of 35,
or a bit older. Gave me a general anesthetic. Spent the next three
days or so on Percoset 😉. It wasn't too bad an ordeal.
*If* I recall correctly, it was removed *before* it started giving me
trouble, on the advice of my new (at the time) dentist.
