SS question - chain size

Are you sure it's not the fact that you're trying to fit a 7/32" chain over
a 1/8" tooth that's causing it to sit high on the cog? If it's not that then
the cog must be incredibly worn.

Aaaaaaaaaagh more discrepencies in terminology

"Pitch represents the width of a chain at its narrowest point; inside
the two innermost link plates. Pitch also represents the width of the
cassette or chain ring teeth that the chain must slip over."

So I've got Sheldon saying pitch is the same as length, and

You could just get a cheap bmx chain. They're 1/8.

3/32 chainring and chain and a 1/8 freewheel.

Dude, it's a bmx freewheel.. 1/8" wide. I forgot you were running it on
a roadie setup (3/32"😉, sorry. Just buy my track cranks :P

My fixie has a 3/32 chainring and a 1/8 cog and chain and I haven't had
any trouble with it. The chainline is spot on, which helps.

I'd get either a 1/8 chain or a 3/32 freewheel - whichever is cheaper.

I wouldn't, it will work just fine. The cheap nasty BMX chains are horrible
though! The 1/8" chains tend to be nice and stiff laterally, they don't get
thrown easily. When the front chainring wears out get a track one. My mate
Neal in Las Vegas sells em pretty cheap for many types of bolt pattern (and
nice chains too)

No apologies needed, all part of the learning experience. I knew it was
a BMX freewheel just didn't realise the implications (but suspected
there would probably be some). I'm happy with any learning experience
that doesn't cost me anything.

I'm running an unholy mix fine.

Chain 1/8 $20 bmx (cheapest possible)
Cog 1/8 16 tooth
Chainring 3/32 46 tooth

The chain will move side to side slightly more on a narrow ring but the whole thing works fine.

I've set him up a dialup account, simply because I don't want to pay for
his broadband. He doesn't type fast enough to make good use of adsl and
I think the slower line speed will discourage his rather serious kitty
