Serves you right for not using rechargables. >:-)

Used mine tonight coming home from a friends house.
Having ridden there in good early-evening daylight, I'd had to go back
once for my lights. If I'd taken the batteries out, I'd doubtless have
found myself having to beg a lift home, or with a long, dark walk.

Haven't forgotten but the batteries go in the kit bag under saddle in a
waterproof box, just in case the lights which remain on the bike are
needed.

Well, if you're continuing to use a particular light, don't take the
batteries out!

Another advantage of dynamos.

I will always explain revoked keys, unless the UK government
prevents me by using the RIP Act 2000.

Quoted message said:Good point: dynamos don't need batteries and they are always ready. But you
can't quickly and easily move them from one bike to another;
Why go to all that hassle when one can have a dynamo on every bike?
Quoted message said:they introduce drag, and weight (even when not needed);
They introduce drag when needed. It is not a great deal.
They introduce weight when not needed. This is not noticeable.
Alternatives include being a party pooper because one needs to get
home before dark, or being a criminal if one decides to work late.
Each to their own.

comparable battery lights.
In an escalating war of brightness it is clear who will win.

Even hub dynamos?

Some will beg to differ.

The answer to this one is simple. If I'm likely to be cycling in the dark,
I'll carry lights. It doesn't take a great deal of organisation.

Cars? I'm not fighting a war of brightness; I just love being able to hare
along at night, at full speed.

You have to admit it's a very cool phrase, though.
