I'm not a fan of frost-bite myself, especially after just being in an
Australian summer. Due to travelling, I haven't experienced a winter
since July 2003. 🙂 It's great!

Another excellent TR and very absorbing, I think it's all the detailed
personal commentary that stuffy blighters like me rarely include.

The icy formations in the mist are great and it looks really arctic up
there. The Extremeties gloves are pretty useless in those conditions as
we discovered.

Betws-y-Coed and you - a lethal combination!. I hope you exercised some
restraint with the old plastic card, there is a gear shop every few yards 🙂

Yup. I'm planning to use a pair of Buffalo mitts next time I'm out,
but I've also now bought a pair of padded, waterproof (allegedly...)
gauntlets. I hate cold hands.

:-) I'm afraid the card did sustain a couple of direct hits -
including the Silva Expedition 54 sighting compass I've been meaning
to replace for quite some time

the happiest couple of hours I've spent for quite some time! Cotswold
there is unlike any other Cotswold I've ever visited - a wonderful
Aladdin's cave! :-)

Yep. These days they seem to make most of their money from Paramo (at least
they're taken enough off me over the last 12 months). Alan and Brian have
just about the bets patter and service imaginable. And they have to be the
campest outdoor specialists ...

the second bloke was the one on the right. Then again, I'm not good at

South Cerney, eh? Hmmm... I've not seen that one!

Just off the main Swindon/Cheltenham road near Cirencester. They have
loads of stuff but not quite as many tents set up to check out before
buying for my liking. They've been pretty good when I've needed to
buy boots for my honking great feet the past couple of times.
