Should follow this up, ie: suggest to council to put up signage at Walmer Bridge, Dights Falls and the Collingwood Childrens Farm, so people don't get a unpleasant surprise down there & have to turn back and go back up Clarke Street....

if you learn anymore (of course i called but 'he has gone for the day! at 4:30pm) let me know. Hopefully they are removing the sodding bolalrds at our end and resurfacing the darned thing...
PS boroondara are also sniffing around Walmer St Bridge too, and it aint good!

If you were coming from the Collingwood Children's Farm direction, why wouldn't you turn up the hill just before the Farm rather than having to go up the stairs at Gipps Street?? It's not like the traffic is too bad from the Children's Farm to Gipps St anyway.
I agree about the signs though....I was pretty [censored] after the last major flooding of the Yarra when I missed (saw something but chose to ignore it!!) the detour sign on the way down the hill to the bridge at Dights Falls only to find it closed due to storm damage. It was only a few hundred metres to go back up to the bridge where the sign was but it still sucked.
