Is there a government/OS/anything searchable database of rural walks, rights of way, bridleways. etc. ?
MAGIC has GIS showing most land use and access designations but not rights of way.
Surrey has an amazing resource at www.surrey.gov.uk and then click on interactive map and accept the terms, one of the layers is footpaths and other prows and this is in the discover surrey section. The site works best with IE5 but will work with opera7, though the cursor location is not available in the latter. Hampshire's is not quite as interactive http://www.hants.gov.uk/maps/paths/ but is easier as it is in the form of images. I'd guess many other county councils will have similar.
