  1. Is there anyone out there that gathers statistics or general trivia on the Tour de France?

    Things like:

What bikes are used by which teams? What kinds of tires are the most commonly used? How may bikes
does each team have ? One extra for each rider, depending on size ? What gear ratio's are the
cyclists pushing? Does this change as they head for the mountains? How much (on average) water gets
consumed a day ? What is the most common manufacturer of helmets for the tour? (Giro?) Do all riders
on a team ride the same bikes or can they use their preference? Do they switch bikes when they
switch teams? What are the most common wheelsets used?

I guess I can go on, but this will have to do for now ...

Purely general interest, not working on any publicity stunt or anything like that ...

    Thx

    Obviously.

All from same manufacturers (at least *labeled* as same manufacturer).

    No problem.

  3. The "Tour De France" booklet I obtained with my subscription to Velo News has a large part of that
information, plus more. Worth the money to get one.

All bikes are actually either Treks or Litespeeds. They are just painted and decalled differently.

    Quoted message said:

What kinds of tires are the most commonly used?

    Tubulars.

    Quoted message said:

How may bikes does each team have ? One extra for each rider, depending on size ?

Each team has 20-30 Treks or Litespeeds, depending on size.

    Quoted message said:

    What do you think?

    Quoted message said:

How much (on average) water gets consumed a day ?

Some pros have even been know to drink beer or wine after a stage (or even during)!

Water? You really care? Do the math... 196 current racers times 8 liters water / racer /day.

Water also gets consumed in the showers and WCs.

    Treks or Litespeeds my bruthah.

    Quoted message said:

    700c.
