Maybe for losers like yourself with are unemployed and HAVE six hours a day to watch uninterruped

I think it's a bit different -- blackouts are caused by the leagues, such as baseball and football,
to protect the local teams.

satellite transmissions to beam the coverage to our country live. We could read all about it the
Sunday paper, before setting off on a ride without the aid of 20-speeds on a bike that was a svelt
25 pounds.

Television is about making money, which uses advertising to get this money, which uses ratings to
determine where to spend their money. We should be happy we have an option to watch it live and that
OLN has been able to use it to make enough money to justify continuing the coverage.

Of course we could go back to the days when ABC carried about 10 minutes of a week's racing on the
"Wide World of Sports". That way we could sit through two hours of Gymnastics, Track & Field, and
Boxing so you could finally see the 10 minutes of Tour coverage. Of course the 10 minutes would 8
minutes of human interest stories and 2 minutes of highlights from the sprints.

Back in the day, circa 1973, I remember "sub 30 pounds" was an admirable goal for a $120 road bike.

Sadly it's not as simple as that. Last year, I was living in an apartment in a town whose cable
company didn't offer OLN. And as many apartment dwellers will attest, dish is not a solution.
Although my lease permitted it, it would only permit me to put one on my deck. But alas, my deck
faced the wrong direction. You have to have a clear view of the southwestern sky to get a dish.

To all out there with cable companies not carrying oln, here's my (admittedly long term) suggestion.
Call your state's public utility agency and find out when your company's franchise is up. In the
months prior to that, write letters to the agency opposing renewal of their franchise. This is the
only true weapon we viewers have against lousy cable service, if satellite is not an option.
