Electric fence danger on A49

Nope, it's high voltage and low current applied intermittently, not
continuously and already tested on humans either by design or accident :-).
It's not designed to kill or stun, just to discourage a repeat attempt to

BTW to attempt to avoid a repeat performance near any hedge used to contain
livestock, listen carefully for a regular ticking sound as the high tension
voltage earths out then avoid contact with that hedge it onlt took two 'zap
you're sterile' incidents to educate me :-)

Heheheheh, nice one. 😉 Well, you did say it was pitch black, my guess
would be that in daylight the signs and the wire and it's supports would be
perfectly clear..

Tell me about it - 80 quid, whereas our lass got fined only 60 for speeding
at 50 in a 40mph area. Still, I always knew I'd have letters after my name,

Mined ewe, beer was ... er ... dunno, but it was cheap, 'cos from a fiver I
could fill my Kawasaki KH250's petrol tank, about 3 1/2 gallon ish, and
still have a couple of pints too .. Not necessarily at the same time, I
hasten to add. 😉

Don't assume that I am an idiot or an out and out townie this fence was not
to keep animals in it was to stop people climbing on to the sign, it was
along the outside of a stone wall, close to the kerb, it was deadly silent
at night and there was no ticking and the shock it gave was much higher than
that given and received quite often by 'normal' fences used to stop
livestock from wandering.

Maybe you should stick to watching the Simpsons. It sounds about your level.

whilst they are not designed to normally kill you, they can deliver a
large amount of energy. Most in use now-a-days are of the mains powered
variety - easier to run than the battery powered types. They put out
about 8kV, with energy levels of 15J, in a few milli-seconds, with a

Australia - farms are big)

Electric fences shul not be the primary fence facing the public, i.e.
there should be another fence in front of them.

Relieving yourself over one is probably OK if you either time it
correctly or make sure you keep the flow off the wires. Problems may
arise as the flow drops off !
