I should have made the RFC connection more clear. Merchant was known
for his cookbooks and love of hosting fine dinners. This was not
intended to be a film post, but rather a food post. THe article excerpt
I posted included two of his recipes harvested by the food writer at
dinner with him a few years back. There was a discussion here in the
last six months or that mentioned his last cookbook - Ismail Merchant's
Passionate Cooking - and it happens to be a favorite of mine.

I thought the article and recipes made the food connection clear
enough, but I was wrong. I should have posted at greater length. Sorry!

OK, ok, I'll think harder next time about making the food connection in
the first sentence. This was a case of posting before thinking.

Ob Food: Hostaria al Forno in North Beach, SF tonight: chard & gruyere
gratin, roasted red peppers, breaded scallops served with an arugula
salad, and strips of rosemary foccaccia toasted. Decaf cappucino at
Caffe Trieste after.

Naan and Curry has a branch just off Columbus in the Financial District
- we might go there some time when we're downtown, even though hubby
eats there regularly. I can't get enough of that tandoori and naan.
