  1. I'm considering purchasing the CR1 Pro....and would like to hear your opinions/suggestions feedbacks on your bike.

How has it hold up? scratches? cracks?
How well does it ride on long rides of 40+ miles? comfy?

What's the main difference between the Pro and Team issue frame? the weight difference of the complete bike is around 1.5 lb and I think that's most from the difference between Dura Ace and Ultegra components.

    Thanks

  2. There's a bunch of talk here: http://www.bicycling.com/

Sounds like people love the look, question the price and wonder why a Giant team version which is lighter (w/DA) wouldn't be on every CR1 buyers list.

    Do a search on CR1

    Thanks tfstrum for the reference...

I test rode the Giant a couple of years ago and thought that it was nice stiff, light but a little rough.

I'm not in the market for a team version, thank god. The CR1 with a TT of 54cm fits me better than the Giant.

I just worked out a deal with the LBS for the CR1 Pro full Ultegra but Dura Ace shifter, Ksyrium Equipped (not Elite) for around $3040. I have a day or so to think it over.
I would swapped out with a pair of American Classic 420 that I'd already owned...should bring the bike down to slightly sub 16lb without pedals.

hmmm I wonder if I'll be able to sleep tonight 😉 🙄

  4. $3K doesn't seem like a bad price. You could put another grand into it with stuff you really want later and probably still feel good about it. It cost me @ $3,400 to piece together a Fondriest U107 alum w/carbon fork and seat stays, Campy Record, FSA crank, Mavic Open Pro's...

No ...$3K for this bike is a pretty good price. I called around and apparently they're pretty popular in some shops that these shops can charge a slightly higher price. The supply of the CR1 is still kinda low though. Just goes to show on the principle of supply/demand.

The prices on these bikes can vary from store to store so if anyone wants one, shop carefully.

My bike (+ my AC 420) , if I'll get it, will come in at about 1lb heavier than the Team issue...but I save about $1500. Leave me some rooms to swap out parts later...and bring it down further if needed.

  6. The Pro frame is the 2004 model (not that they changed alot for 2005) and is 100g heavier than the Team.

He can't go a Giant because only the top model has the new frame, whereas the entire Scott carbon range has the "carbon weld" design.

Why would you go a Team Giant when you can buy a lighter and stiffer frame with a CR1 (given we pimp high end bikes anyway)?

  7. Check out www.pezcyclingnews.com, thay just reviewed the Centaur version.

Yop!! I read that article the minute it became available 🙂

Thta's the Centaur model too. The Ultegra Pro is half a lb lighter. Then another half pound because of my wheels 🙂

So, does that mean you've approved of my purchase decision although I haven't officially pulled the trigger yet? 😄 😎

Rudy, I can't add any value to this thread because I've never ridden a Scott, but I can say they're a lovely looking Bike, that Carbon weave is the nicest I've seen!!
When I was shopping for a Bike my LBS suggested a Scott and offered me a CR1 Team for the weekend back in January, unfortunately it poured with rain both Days and he had to give it back to the Rep on Monday morning 🙁

Anyway, he's also a Cannondale Dealer so I opted for a Six13 for various reasons...

I ride with the Shop on some Saturday mornings, there are usually about 8 Riders and at least 4 are on Scotts...they all love them obviously, including my LBS Guy who rides and races an Ultegra Team Version...

    Good luck!!

Now...you've really made it harder for me to go to bed tonight..I can see myself toss and turn now. (sigh )

Surprisingly I haven't test ride the Pro yet. I've only been on the Team issue...which I can't seem to be able to justify quite a bit more money for 100g ....and of course...DA and better wheels

But I'm not going to use those wheels...and I do like my AC 420 wheels.

  12. That's only .2 Lbs, would you even notice the difference? Plus, I prefer the look of the Pro as opposed to the Team...but that's just me...

Why not go for the $9500.00 "Limited"?? You could always use your Car as a down payment ;-)

  13. The 420's are very strong, light and aero though the hubs arn't as durable as I'd like.

There isn't a great different between DA10 and Ult10 and the frames ride the same. I've been on a team issue for 14 months.

Who on earth would compare a CR1 to a Six13? Give Cannodale a few years to catch up with the market and they'll have some carbon bike worth buying. For the moment the Six13 is similar to an early model Trek OLCV.

Brizza...why did you pick th Team issue over the pro instead? The DA and the wheels?

  15. Got the wheels aftermarket and wanted DA.

Ult10 wasn't available 12 months ago and I didn't want to wait, but I use Ult10 on my training bike and the main differences are:

the downshift is a little stiffer,
the brake pads arn't as grippy as DA10 pads,
the chain rings are a different colour to the crank.

If you can live with those points or replace them over time, then it operates almost as good as DA10.

The Pro frame is still alot stiffer and almost as light as any other on the market.

Yes I can live with those points 🙂 I will get the DA shifter though....

And yest I'll swap out parts over time.... zero gravity brakes to drop half a pound?

How much weight difference between the DA and Ult 10 groupos I wonder?

  17. Could could figure it out at
    Weight weenies

Not sure how the shifters will compare in terms of durability but they are very similar in operation.

  18. I got

    2545 for Ult10 and
2279 for DA10 though it depends on the configuration.

    Use their Paper Build Configurator

Thanks Brizza...I knew about weight weenies...just didn't know they have a Paper build configuration.

BTW you're enjoying your bike so far? any positive/negative feedbacks?

  20. I've liked the Kuota, so checked Pez after reading the CR1 article. Looks like the CR1 in the $3K range would be the bike to get...
