Are you a graduate of Brookes? Are you a student at Brookes?

Good grief, does it really matter?
How does it affect you?
Surely they know who JC is and have made their award with this knowledge in mind. Maybe they simply think differently to you.
At my first degree ceremony they gave an honorary degree to someone on the grounds that he could run very fast. Congratulations on completing three years of hard work and proving your intellectual ability. Here's your prize, and here's one for this bloke who deserves it because he's got enormous thigh muscles.
I really don't have a clue what the point of giving an honorary degree is (apart from an exercise by the university's PR department). Quite apart from this petition being a shocking exercise in small-minded spite, I really don't see why anyone cares. They don't *mean* anything.

Absolutely.
An honorary degree means almost nothing other than a bit of mutual convenient publicity. Moaning about who gets one in such a public manner just fuels the very publicity machine they are protesting about .. 😉

As apparantly today's most pressing issue is a non-entity TV presenter recieving a non-entity prize from a non-entity establishment, it seems clear that overnight all the evils of cars Duhg used to whinge about have been solved.

That depends on the moaning. In a brief show of political strength, the Sheffield uni students receiving their degrees at the same time as the leader of a country considered by the Red Cross to be guilty of committing a great many atrocities, wore black scarves around their mouths and refused to speak during the ceremony. PR exercise or not, somethings are inappropriate for _any_ university.
And no... I don't believe that JC fits into that category of faux pas.
