  1. OT I know but perched on top of the central barrier of the motorway on
my way home today was ..... a boat. Not a small boat - I would guess a
40 footer. Police in attendance and no sign of tow vehicle or trailer.
    The mind boggles.

Obvious innit - owner: Noah. Preparation for the effects of rising sea-level
& increased extreme weather events due to global warming.

I think youve got the cart before the horse. In view of the recent
weather it was left there after a flash flood.

I saw a boat like that parked on the hard shoulder of the M8 a few years
back. Not as big and no trailer or anyone near it. I was in bus with a lot
of drunk American football fans at the time so it may have been an illusion.

I knew a guy who was driving his boat home for the winter down the M6,
too tired to drive having spent the day hauling the boat out of the
water and getting it sorted out for travel. He fell asleep at the
wheel, went off the carriageway, and hit something moderately solid.
The boat (about 24 feet, built of aluminium) tore free from the
trailer, went over the top of the peugeot estate car, and ended up on
the motorway verge undamaged. The car was, needless to say, a write off
and my aquaintance was injured, but the boat came out of it with hardly
    a scratch.
