Have to say college are being reasonable in that it's being reported to plod, and if the stuff doesn't come back, college have confirmed they will foot the bill for replacement items. But it is *so* annoying that the stuff went in the first place.

Indeed. Also there's not a lot of Met Strads seen in deepest rural Fakenham, nor Shimano shoes! And as the club jersey is fluorescent yellow stars & stripes on a black background, with CC Breckland written on it, it's hardly going to blend in ;-)

Sounds like its done as a prank or for spite rather than for use. Might be better to get the school to make a "return it and nothing will be said or else the police are involved and it will get serious" offer.

College reported to police this afternoon. They take it seriously, I'm pleased to say. Alas, plod wouldn't take a report from a third party, so college called us immediately & asked us to report - which we've done. College doesn't take such pranks lightly, if it is a prank, and I'm pleased about that. This isn't a bunch of little kids, these are late teens, going on to young adults, so should know better if it is a prank. I don't think it is though - Nathan's not had any problems all year apart from one other occasion, when his stuff was spread all over the floor of the room.

How did they get nicked from a locked room? Perhaps they should question the teachers?
My gut feeling (and I could be wrong) is that when a class has been taken in there - on the way out someone has picked up the stuff and popped it into a bag, so it hasn't been noticed as someone taking womething that isn't theirs. Door locked on way in and locked when room empties...

I have the advantage of being able to remember how boys of that age behave (Mrs R would say I still behave that way!) They do lots of things that to us old wrinklies looks dumb but to them it seemed a good idea at the time. As they say, good judgement comes from experience, experience comes from bad judgements.

Why use any other approach? There must be nearly £200's worth of stuff stolen. If it was some of Nathans friends, he'd have found out by now because of the giggles when he asks where his stuff is. Presumably this didn't happen, so let the crime experts sort it out.

I think that is the right approach. Perhaps someone is a lttle peeved at the exposure 'young' Nathan gets from his exploits. Witness his 'coverage' on this ng for example. Unless there is something no-one but Nathan and the moronic perpertrator knows about. Ultimately the explanation will probably be a very simple one.

Exactly. When we totted up the bill of what we'd have to shell out to replace like for like, it pretty much is nearly £200. The main one that upsets Nathan is the Met Strad going. He chose that as his present for doing reasonably okay at GCSEs.
